Superstars Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt checked out the local pub after falling in love with their new Irish hideaway. The celebrity sweethearts shocked regulars when they twice called in at "THE COSY THATCH" for a romantic drink before Christmas. The 500-year-old bar, run by colourful drag artist Mr. Pussy, is just half a mile from the £2m mansion in Co. Waterford. One drinker said, "They were in here all right and actually seemed a very down to earth pair." He added, "Mr. Pussy is planning to stage some spectacular shows here with his pals Danny La Rue and Lily Savage so I wouldn’t be surprised if we see them back again after they move in." Hollywood hunk Brad, the 35-year-old star of "FIGHT CLUB" and "SE7EN", is expected to close the deal today on stunning Pouldrew House in Kilmeaden. He spent several weeks in Ireland three years ago researching his role for the IRA thriller "THE DEVIL’S OWN".
Late last summer he commissioned a Dublin solicitor to house-hunt for him and "FRIENDS" beauty Jennifer, 31. And apparently he knew the seven-bedroom pad would make the ideal home the minute he saw it. The house is set in a deep valley on 45 acres of land, complete with deer park and a 20ft waterfall which provides free power. Neighbours include Lord Ambrose Mount Congreve and Lord Waterford. The River Dawn feeds off a picturesque artificial lake in the grounds which contains brown trout and pike. Built in 1814, there are four large reception rooms, a wood-panelled fitted kitchen, study, store room and laundry room. On the lower ground floor there is a wine cellar, billiards room, games room and offices. The superstar couple want to install a jacuzzi in the master bedroom and modernise several other rooms in the Georgian mansion before throwing a huge house warming party in the Spring. Meanwhile security has been stepped up in a bid to keep callers at bay. A doberman is guarding the property which has a bizarre notice pinned to the front door. It reads: "This house is protected by SHOTGUN three days of the week - you guess which three!"
