This is the man that was leader of the orchestra that played until the end on Titanic. He is my favorite character, even though he's hardly in this movie at all. It takes a great deal of courage and strength to let his orchestra go and stay after even though he knows that he will die. He gives his life to play that last song that I know I will remember for a long time. With out that song, I wouldn't have truly touched that certain level of emotions from Titanic that makes you want to see the movie over and over again. During this song you watch as everyone gets settled to die, not in a frantic way, but in a peaceful and sad way. . .The exact emotions that that last song expresses. It was all thanks to Wallace Hartley.
This is a kind and gentle man with a soft and soothing voice. He was a wonderful man of peace, and it is a shame that things turned out the way they did. It wasn't his fault that the Titanic sunk, though I'm sure Thomas blamed himself greatly. His whole soul was in this ship, and you could see pain in his eyes when he turned to Rose and said, "I'm sorry I didn't build you a stronger ship..."

See what Fleet really looked like
These guys were so cool. I just love the comic reliefs in movies. Almost every line they said was funny, whether it was, "Pick up ya bastards!", "I can smell the bergs," or the simple "Iceberg, right ahead!" These guys were stuck up in that small little look-out tower without binoculars and in the freezing cold, and they still attempted to have a good time. These guys were awesome.
"...and I saw new heavens and a new earth. The former heavens and the former earth had passed
away and the sea was no longer."
I admit. The first few times I saw this movie, I couldn't even tell you who this guy was. Well, I opened my eyes around the 4th time, and I saw how courageous this young man was. If he hadn't had come back, Rose would have died. He knew that he was going to get some criticism for wanting to help others, but he managed to say, "Alright, listen to me men! We have to go back!" Then, when he saw all the dead bodies in the water, you could really feel the pain in his voice when he said, "We waited too long. . ." and even when he knew that almost all of the people were dead, he ordered the other men to keep checking to make sure. This guy most surely deserves credit on my character list
This man used his love for God to help so many people on the Titanic die with no pain and in a peaceful state. The last shot of him really sticks out in my mind, when he is holding onto the ship with dear life with one hand, letting people cling to his other hand, tears rolling down his face, and him saying this words,
"I also saw a new Jerusalem, the holy city coming down out of heaven from God, beautiful as a bride
prepared to meet her husband. I heard a loud voice from the throne ring out this is God's dwelling
among men. He shall dwell with them and they shall be his people and He shall be their God who is
alway with them."
"He shall wipe every tear from their eyes. And there shall be no more death or mourning, crying out
or pain, for the former world has passed away."
