Synopsis
High Society unfolds in the aristocratic Newport, Rhode Island,
at Jazz Festival time. Tracy Lord,
the daughter of a wealthy family, is about to marry the faultless but dull
George Kittredg when her ex-husband
arrives, accompanied with a magazine's scandal reporters. Tracy tries to
confuse the inquisitive journalists
but seems to grow more unsure of herself as her wedding approaches.
One of Hollywood's all-time favourite film musicals.

Tracy: How do you do? I'm Tracy Lord. You must be... Oh, of course you are! I adore strangers!
***
Tracy: And Jack the Ripper! Where did he teach?
***
Tracy (to Caroline): Isn't it time for your milk and arsenic, darling?
***
George: There's a beautiful purity about you, like a statue to
be worshiped.
Tracy: But I don't want to be worshiped, I want to be loved.
***
Tracy: Hello everybody! Isn't it a fine day? Is everybody fine? Fine.
***
Tracy: Do you like my dress?
Uncle Willie: Oh it is quite beautiful, my dear!
Tracy: It's awfully heavy.
