Welcome to this section dedicated to the our cable TV show known as THE EVALUATORS. This program serves no other purpose than to take a glorious look at our nostalgic (and current) trends in pop culture and mindless media entertainment. THE EVALUATORS feature media critics Frank Ochieng and Larry Haber who examine the various trends associated with our media subculture. Whether it's discussing "cinema psychos" or "television sidekicks", Ochieng and Haber invite television viewers along to reminisce and recall these media moments.

WHO ARE THE EVALUATORS?

They are Frank Ochieng and Larry Haber. Haber's affiliation and background is working in television, particularly being associated with New England Cable News. Ochieng has been critiquing films for years and has background in cable television (he and Haber have hosted cable shows in the past such as Warner Cable's 1987 show TRIVIA LIVE! and 1988's TIME TO REVIEW). Frank Ochieng presently is the film critic for publications THE VOICEMAKERS (1997- ), RACCOON TIMES (1996-98), and does contribute film reviews and other related commentary to VGT AT THE MOVIES website and makes occasional appearances on Bob Nelson's radio show THE JUKE JOINT (WMWM 91.7 FM).

WHERE CAN THE EVALUATORS BE SEEN?

A sampling of THE EVALUATORS episodes/topics:

show #1: Frank and Larry look at TV theme songs (clips included: Bonanza, Gunsmoke, The Waltons, Touched By An Angel, Mission: Impossible, The Mod Squad, The Munsters, Gilligan's Island, Star Trek, and The Time Tunnel).

show #2: 1997 summer blockbusters that were a bust (aired July 1997). Clips/movies discussed: Father's Day, Volcano, Con Air, Speed 2: Cruise Control, Batman & Robin, and Jurassic Park: The Lost World.

show #3: overlooked TV emmy nominations/Frank & Larry present "The Evalie Awards" (aired September 1997). Discussion about who was unfairly overlooked in the eyes of the Emmy academy. Notable examples were TV personalites Andre Braugher & Clarke Johnson for acting chores on Homicide: Life on The Streets, comic accolades for best actor (Jerry Seinfeld, "Seinfeld"), best drama actress for Lucy Lawless from Xena: Warrior Princess, and recognition for constant oversighted shows The Simpsons and Homicide: Life on The Streets.

show #4: Iritating TV characters we love to root for! (aired November 1997). Visited such pain-in-the-neck likable TV personas such as Family Matter's Steve Urkel, Seinfeld's George Costanza, Barney Miller's Det. Phil Fish, Taxi's Louie De Palma, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show's Ted Baxter.

show #5: TV obnoxious characters of yesteryear (aired in December 1997). Clips highlighted were obnoxious favorites Eddie Haskell (Leave It To Beaver), Mel Sharples (Alice), Charles Emerson Winchester (M*A*S*H), JR Ewing (Dallas), and Fred Sanford (Sanford and Son).

show #6: Frank Ochieng and Larry Haber's top ten films of '97 (aired January 1998). Frank and Larry each select 5 personal favorite films from 1997 to compile their 10 best list for THE EVALUATORS viewers. Frank's picks were: Eve's Bayou, The House of Yes, In The Company of Men, Face/Off, and Ulee's Gold. Larry's picks were Titanic, Armistad, LA Confidential, Air Force One, and The Edge.

show #7: TV Guilty Pleasures (aired March '98). Frank and Larry take a look at programming some of us would be embarrased to admit they enjoy: The Jerry Springer Show, All My Children, WWF wrestling, Scooby Dooby Doo, the 3 Stooges, and Win Ben Stein's Money.

show #8: Children Programming of Yesteryear: childhood memories (aired April 1998). The media critics shed their babybooming skins to take a look at kiddie programming from yesterday. Clips that will help them nostaligally are: Speed Racer, Rocky & Bullwinkle Show, The Banana Splits, H.R. Puff -N- Stuff, the Hudson Bros. Razzle Dazzle Show, and The Harlem Globetrotters Popcorn Machine.
