What's this? You hear there's a printed fanzine called THE VOICEMAKERS? Please, go on...

What are The Voicemakers?

As mentioned above, it's a DIY printed fanzine that focuses its attention on the nonsensical aspects of pop culture and dedicates itself to bringing you "media madness!!" This newsletter features TV commentary, film reviews, reader's feedback, and zine reviews of other publications. In addition, there are other main recurring columns in The Voicemakers such as "Dan The Man and His Plan", "Frank(ly) Speaking", "Cimema Sensibilities", and "Fanzine Cuisine"...just to name a few articles.

Who are The Voicemakers?

They are media critics/pop culturists Frank Ochieng and Dan Berman who formed their publication back in March 1997.

Can I Quote You On That?

What have the zine reviewers and fellow colleagues been saying about Frank Ochieng and Dan Berman or The Voicemakers in general? Here's a few kind words from...

Bob Nelson, RACCOON TIMES: "...(The Voicemakers) is a must for TV and movie fans! Of all the media-related review zines I've seen, this is among the best!..."

Morgan White Jr., Boston-based trivia personality and occasional WBZ-AM radio talk show guest: "...I found The Voicemakers quite impressive--really!!..."

Alden Scott, ZINE WORLD: "...these folks seem sincere, and the movie review guy (Ochieng) appears to know his stuff..."

Chris W. Becker, FACTSHEET 5: "If you love to chew apart the latest films and television shows, you'll find yourself right at home here. Frank Ochieng and Dan Berman head up the festivities...Frank then delivers his no-nonsense movie reviews of the latest theatrical releases...despite my lackluster description, they are really a lot of fun...this is gonna be a fun one..."

The Newsletters on Newsletters: "...Taglined "the newsletter dedicated to media madness", The Voicemakers is a bi-monthly fanzine offering an eclectic mix of nostalgia & little-known facts about the entertainment world...past issues have included a column from Voicemakers film critic Frank Ochieng reviewing the movies..."

Indy Ana Jones, INDY UNLEASHED: "The Voicemakers is the newsletter dedicated to media madness. In this case, "media" means "mostly movies & TV"...I'm happy to be able to trade with The Voicemakers and look forward to each new issue..."

The Man From T.R.I.V.I.A newsletter: "...Co-editors Dan Berman and Frank Ochieng focus their attention on "media madness" in this publication...for info, send!!..."

Amusing Yourself To Death review zine: SPECIAL RECOGNITION--chose The Voicemakers as one of AYTD's "zines of the month" (July 1997)

Dave Laxamana, AMUSING YOURSELF TO DEATH: "...I love this zine. It's about two of my favorite pastimes: movies & TV. Frank's Film Fest is devoted to movie reviews. These two guys (Frank Ochieng & Dan Berman) are great writers...check out this zine!!"

Ruel Gaviola, AMUSING YOURSELF TO DEATH: "...The Voicemakers has what more zines should feature: solid writing. Frank Ochieng's real strength is in his film reviews. Frank's reviews strike a nice balance between the average moviegoer's perspective and the seasoned film critic's experiences..This zine is well worth a buck!!"

Electra Karma, AMUSING YOURSELF TO DEATH: "...an attribute to definitely note (in The Voicemakers) is Frank's review section (movies and zines). Where most reviewers give a mindless blob about a zine of interest, Frank gives more complete commentaries, making the reviews just as interesting as the actual movie or zine...if you're looking for a complete newsletter about TV and film seasoned with some real character, then The Voicemakers is well worth the dollar."
