The Angel Series

The Angel Series is just chock full of Angely fun. I just can't get ENOUGH of it! This may come as a shock to my loyal fans, but I actually sorta kinda somewhat like the show. The main reasons being that 1) Angel can be funny sometimes and 2) Charisma Carpenter. Everything that I hated about Angel on Buffy seems to have disappeared like a woman when the money is gone. Which is definitely of the good. Watching older episodes of Buffy made me realize that I liked Angel before he got involved with our fair heroine. He was sarcastic, humorous, a little bitter and not at all broody. Welcome to the Hellmouth/The Harvest both display some fun Angel watchin' without all the sappy, crying, little birdies, feelings Angel I got accustomed to during the first half of season two. Of course, the return of Angelus was the highlight of that season, as he was a bigger bad than Spike could ever hope to be. I was especially enamoured with Sense and Sensitivity, as it showed David's great comedic capabilities.

Additionally, CC is great. Eye candy, yes, but she also is doing a pretty good job of carrying a good part of the show. Her and Angel are great together, and I like the fact that there is absolutely nothing going on with them, in a fucking kind of sense. He acts like her big brother, and for the most part, she doesn't seem to mind. Their relationship is funny just based on the fact that it's Angel and Cordelia. Who ever thought they would turn out to be best friends? They seem to compliment each other and geniunely care for each other. . .it's kinda sweet, actually.

Yes, I miss Doyle. He was wonderful and great and made the show worth watching. He had amazing chemistry with CC, and provided that everyman character to the series. But he proved that he was more than that, and I love him all the more for sacrificing himself for others - a truly christ-like character. Mainly, I just wanted the chance to compare a demon to christ.

I'm not sure how I feel yet about Wesley. I liked him on Buffy, but mainly because he aggravated Giles, and a fun Giles is an aggravated Giles. He served as a foil, and did so well. His behavior in Expecting shows that he is a real stand-out guy. The three of them together are an interesting group, and Wesley seems to be the most excited about the killing and such. The whole "rogue demon hunter" thing was pretty amusing, mostly cause Wes was in leather.

I used to date this guy who had an affinity for late-night bad TV shows. Angel reminds me of those TV shows. I would be lying in bed, praying for a power outtage so that I wouldn't be expected to watch the bad acting and retarded plots anymore. It never happened though, and I was subjected to hours upon hours of big-titted bimbos uttering incomprehensible sayings and having to be rescued by the "studs" of the show. Monosyllabic, to be sure. Angel is different because the big-titted bimbo is fiesty and likes to cut up dead things, and the "studs" are well-rounded characters who continue to add depth to the show. The series isn't perfect, by any stretch, but it's definitely entertaining - and isn't that why we watch TV to begin with?
