Bad taste in men: Ted, the evil killing robot
Under the influence: Twice, on top of a cop car, with Mr. British Librarian
Devoted mother: Relocated so Buffy could go to school, did everything in her power to get her back at Sunnydale High, strong supporter of her daughter's slaying
Big fan: Art, art and more art, schnapps of the peach variety, Deep End of the Ocean, Thelma and Louise, masks that raise the dead, company plates, Spike
Hostage situation: Abducted by Kralik, tied up by Faith
As Buffy tells it: Best mom ever
I've come around to liking Joyce a great deal, after wanting to stuff her in a body bag for some time. Season two, especially, drove me nuts, because Joyce seemed so freaking oblivious to everything. That's why when Buffy finally got the chance to just go off in "Becoming, part two," I was sitting there cheering her on. I mean, duh! After the fight and Buffy's return, Joyce has been cool as hell. She's been very supportive and understanding of Buffy. The scene where Joycie finds out that Buffy died, in "Faith, Hope and Trick" is probably my favorite mother/daughter moment between the two. There was that little business of trying to kill her little girl by burning her at stake, but that seems to have been forgotten. Season three really allowed Joyce to be mom of the year, from rubbing it in Snyder's face to leaving town when Buffy asked and trusting her. Sutherland's performance is ALWAYS dead on; she does a fantastic job with the material and is completely believable. She really shines with Sarah Michelle Gellar, as the two seem like a real mother and daughter. I've missed Joyce in season four, and hope she will be back for more eps in the future.
