Chris Farley - Almost Heroes
- His Last Picture!
We were beginning to wonder if we would ever see this one! "Almost Heroes", or "Edwards and Hunt" as it was originally known, has been in the works for a LONG time. Filming was completed in early 1997, but the movie's release dates kept getting delayed.. and delayed.. and delayed again!! Once it was June 1997, then August 1997, then "Fall" 1997, then "Christmas" 97, then even early April 98. Finally, it appears the "solid" release date (please excuse my skepticism) is May 1, 1998. It appears this won't change, because that's the date that's being printed on advertisements and is listed on the movie's official website. Well, unfortunately for all of us, this will be Chris' final movie, providing us one last chance to see him do his hilarious thing on the big screen. Early word on this one is that maybe it has some more serious parts in it. The "Tommy Boy" style team-up of big lovable dopey guy and little sarcastic sidekick is repeated here, but with "Friends'" Matthew Perry replacing David Spade's role. It sounds great. Perry can wisecrack perhaps even better than Spade, and his Chandler is hilarious on "Friends". Perry had a so-so film debut with "Fools Rush In" and hopefully "Almost Heroes" will be good enough to break the "Friends guys" jinx of jumping to the silver screen (David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc). Farley fans are eagerly awaiting this one, looking for it to provide one last time to see new footage of their favorite comedian in action. |
