It's been awhile since I've updated this section of the page. And since the reasons why have changed, it's probably a good idea to explain why one more time, now that I am a well-versed Blakefan.

I first saw this man consciously on New Year's Eve 1997. We were watching Contact at a friend's house. Because I have a penchant for developing crushes on background characters, it isn't surprising that I latched onto Fisher right away. His charming good looks and shy demeanor were immediately appealing to me.

The more I think about it, the more practical a page for Geoff seems. He has the ideal situation: he's a successful actor without being so visible that he couldn't walk down the street in broad daylight safely. Without guys like Geoffrey, there could be no truly great movies like "Forrest Gump," "Apollo 13," and "Contact." As evidenced by Geoff's stellar appearance in "Forrest Gump," it's often the smaller roles that are the most memorable. Without a doubt, he's an incredible actor who manages to portray everything that can possibly be portrayed in the characters he plays whether he stars or has only three lines.

There are a lot of actors like Geoffrey, and a lot of fans for actors like Geoffrey. But why would a fan of Geoffrey's choose to spend so much time compiling and creating a web page for him? That answer is fairly simple. Yes, he's a talented actor. And I have a great deal of appreciation for him, as well as harboring a huge crush on him. I would like to see more of him because I really enjoy his abilities and his good looks. In my own hyper-inflated way, I like to think that this page will generate its own traffic by getting Mr. Blake more screen time. Here's how:

  1. People visit my page.
  2. Word gets out about its comprehensiveness.
  3. Visitors assume that Geoffrey must have a pretty strong cult following to justify a site like this.
  4. Film people, aware of Geoffrey Blake's cult following, cast him in more roles.
  5. More appearances for Geoffrey mean he is exposed to more potential fans.
  6. More fans=more traffic for my site.
It's an insidious plot, I know, but maybe, just maybe, I'm doing my part.

That said, there is one question in my mind: will Geoffrey visit the page? Does he know that he has a fan base? Well, evidently, yes. And he seems flattered, although I suspect he's more than a little freaked out. He can console himself, however, with the following tidbits: 1) I am currently dating somebody close to my own age; 2) I haven't updated the site in about a year and probably won't again; and 3) his high-school classmates evidently think this is pretty cool. Something to flaunt at the reunion anyway.
