recent here at criminal grace:

August 26th, 2002: I'm in the process of moving this site to a new server (mithlond.net, owned by my family). I cancelled my GeoPlus membership so I had to take down the Various gallery, but rest assured that the photographs will be back on the new site. More details to come shortly.
October 29th, 2001: Just a short note; K-Pax has been released in the US!
September 24th, 2001: A lot of small news to hit this month; check various below. The second archive is now up. Wanna help me? Please, find out how. Thank you :)
August 29th, 2001: Release dates for TSN and K-Pax have been announced, a short note on Jack Lemmon's memorial and some Bobby Darin info.
August 1st, 2001: All is relatively quiet on the Spacey Front. The Shipping News has finished shooting and is now in post-production. No news as to what he'll do next (but he has mentioned several times that he's planning to return on stage at the Old Vic in London). Jack Lemmon passed away in June, and KS appeared on Larry King Live, reminiscing about him. More info below. I created also the first archive. It basically covers the period of January - April 2001.

Kevin's next film, K-Pax from Universal will be released October 26th. The film is directed by Iain Softley. Jeff Bridges, Alfre Woodard and Mary McCormack are co-starring. The film is adapted from a novel by Gene Brewer.
A synopsis: A mysterious patient named 'Prot' (KS) is admitted to a mental hospital who claims that he has traveled across time and space from a place he calls K-Pax, a planet whose inhabitants possess remarkable abilities. Determined to prove that Prot is nothing more than a tragic victim of multiple personality disorder, psychiatrist Gene Brewer (Jeff Bridges) soon finds himself doubting his own diagnosis. As the supposed alien interacts with the other troubled residents of the hospital, they undergo wondrous transformations and, one by one, shake off lives encumbered by mental disorders and become happy functioning people.
K-Pax and KS are featured at AskMen.com, check out for more details!

Kevin sues a Canadian "cybersquatter", who is using his name to promote a commercial celebrity website. Currently the owner of the domain name http://www.kevinspacey.com is Jeff Burgar. The visitor to kevinspacey.com is forwarded to http://www.celebrity1000.com, a website with polls about celebrities and commercial advertisements.
In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, Spacey and M. Profitt Productions Inc. [?!?] say they own the rights to Spacey's name and voice, and image cultivated in the theatre and movies. "Consistent with the defendant's long history and pattern of cybersquatting, he has intentionally infringed and diluted Kevin Spacey's valuable rights in the Kevin Spacey name and mark," the suit contends. It is also claimed that Burgar has used other celebrity names in the past, including Jodie Foster, Tom Cruise and Mariah Carey, and has been sued dozens of times for registering domain names of celebrities or well-known brands such as Chevrolet.

[Eeva's note] It appears that Burgar has taken KS and his management's suit seriously. If you visit the site now, the title is "An Unofficial KS fansite", and there is some, however little, information on KS and his career. No information is given of the webmaster etc.

KS: SINGING AND HOSTING

According to Access Hollywood on Monday 9/17/2001, KS was singing at Merv Griffin's Beverly Hilton Hotel (time of such event unknown). A friend of a friend has informed me that Kevin also appeared on the Latin Grammy Awards show, and sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water". Can anyone confirm this?
Kevin is also set to host a John Lennon tribute called "Come Together: A Night For John Lennon's Music And Words" for TNT. The event was re-scheduled due to the terrorist attacks in USA, and will benefit the American Red Cross and several other funds and relief organizations tied to the tragedy. It will take place in NYC's Radio City Music Hall on October 2nd. Nelly Furtado, Moby, Lou Reed, Shelby Lynne, Stone Temple Pilots, Seal and Marc Anthony will perform.

KS AND SAG

According to the Halifax Daily News, Kevin has spoken out again against SAG members working in foreign productions. In a letter to SAG members and again at a Sunday (9/9 2001) night party in Hollywood, he asserted "runaway production" could wipe out SAG and urged SAG members to refuse work on non-union contracts, reports Variety. The letter was apparently sent to 98,000 SAG members.
SAG is also launching a petition drive of its members with a letter signed by Spacey, Laurence Fishburne, Valerie Harper, Holly Hunter, and Harrison Ford, added the Variety report.

JACK LEMMON, R.I.P.

Jack Lemmon passed away June 26th, 2001. On Friday 28th, CNN broadcast a special edition of Larry King Live, Remembering Jack Lemmon. The studio guests included KS, Shirley MacLaine, David Seltzer and Charlie Matthau. The show was very emotional, and they discussed Jack Lemmon and his amazing body of work as an actor and a comedian. Kevin said,

If there is really -- there is only a handful of actors on one hand in fact, that I really have tried to emulate in my own career, and, I'm lucky to have known him, lucky to have worked with him, he taught me a lot, and really I would have to say, he became almost a second father to me.
The memorial was held on August 13th. Apparently Charlie Rose hosted the event. Tom Hanks, Hank Azaria and Neil Simon, among many others, attended. Kevin shared some funny memories, like the time his dog relieved itself on the actor's prized golf clubs. He also remarked that
Hollywood has given no greater, or versatile, actor to the world than Jack Lemmon.
Jack Lemmon will be sadly missed.

BOBBY DARIN BIOPIC

Kevin has mentioned several times that he's interested in making a film of Bobby Darin, the late singer (eg GQ's October 2000 interview). Parade magazine's issue from the weekend of the 34th week in 2001, included in the Personality Parade a question from a reader who asked about this. Magazine replied that KS is indeed developing a script about the singer, but that "the project is still far off".
More updates as soon as I get the news.
