"The Cherry Project" is one of Naoko's earlier mangas. It's very short (only fifteen chapters made into three volumes). If you haven't read this manga, I encourage you to read it. I feel like a traitor to Sailor Moon when I say I think it's one of Naoko's better Manga. Not that any of them are bad..."Cherry Project" just happens to be my fave right now.
"The Cherry Project" is about a young man by the name of Masanori Tsuzuki, a figure skater. He was the all-Japan boys champion. However, his dream is to be a pair skater. There's only one problem...His father will not allow him to skate after his eighth grade year. As the story begins, he is entering the eighth grade and still looking for a pairs partner!!! He has almost lost hope, when a prospect falls into his lap...literally!!!
Asuka Chieri (Cherry) is the daughter of the men's Olympic figure skating champion. She is full of raw talent, but she is extremely clumsy. Tsuzuki decides to take a chance on her and becomes her coach, but disaster strikes! Chieri decides she'd rather be a singles skater and challenge the all-Japan girl's champion--Akiyama Canty. Tsuzuki is quickly running out of time...what will happen? Will he be forced to take over his father's many budinesses at the young age of fifteen, or he will he make his dream of figure skating come true?
