Wallace Hartley

An eight man band lead by Wallace Hartley played on as the ship was sinking. He was labeled a "hero" and so were his bandmates. What the last song played by them is still quite a controversy. Most believe it was "Nearer, My God, to Thee" or "O God, Our Help in Ages Past." But this band played on even as the ship was breaking up and people around them where in a chaotic state of mind. Wallace almost did not board the Titanic because he was recently engaged to his girlfrien Maria Robinson. But at the last minute he decided it would be a great reference on his resume for futre acts.
