Isidor and Ida Straus

Just like in the movie Rose refused to leave Jack and in real life Ida refused to get on a lifeboat. The Straus' were married for 41 years when the ship went down. They were famous for owning Macy's department stores. Officers pleaded for her to get on the lifeboat but she refused. FInally the second to last boat she got on but hen jumped off when her husband, Isidor, was stepping away. They were last seen embracing each other. Neither of them survived. A memorial in a Bronx cemetary with a monument inscribed, "Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it." is dedicated to them.
