12 INCHES OF DANGLING FURY
PLOT-A demon hunter tracks suspicious activity in Jesus Christ's apartment.
VIOLENCE-A throat is cut, and someone's arm gets broken (causing a disgusting compound fracture, complete w/ protruding bone).
SEX/NUDITY-One very comical sex scene featuring the lead actress topless.
WHY I WATCHED IT-I'm a huge fan of Low Budget Pictures, better known as LBP. I'll watch anything bearing the LBP name.
THE DOPE-Writer/Director/Actor Chris Seaver's flicks are instantly recognizable and always entertaining. I flipped when i saw FILTHY McNASTY a couple years back, and have been a huge fan of his work ever since. While he's made several amazing movies, the short but sweet 12 INCHES OF DANGLING FURY is my favorite of them all. Why? Because in its simplicity, it's perfectly executed comedic brilliance. You've got a small number of characters in one apartment, all with their own unique quirks. In the hands of another filmmaker, this could prove dull and confining, and they'd probably fall back on every convention you can think of. Not so when you're dealing with a Chris Seaver flick! He seems to score highest when he's got the least to work with in terms of plot and setting, and this film runs in high gear from the opening credits till the end, with Seaver's trademark grossness and goofiness simmering to a fine consistency. A potent brew indeed.
I shouldn't, however, give Seaver all the credit for making this the best LBP production I've seen thus far. While all the performers bring a fun and different energy to the table, it's Lauren Puschkin's turn as "Puggly", the weird and grotesquely funny other sister, that stands out the most. Puschkin owns the screen whenever her character is in fame, stealing the entire movie each time with her screamingly funny voice and physical mannerisms. I laugh at everything she says and does...every single time I watch this flick. This is one of the funniest characters I've ever seen, a rare display of exceptional physical comedy skill on the indie level. She gets my highest praise, and a shitload of laughs from me and everyone I show this movie to.
Chris Seaver is definitely talented when it comes to comedy, and this time, his genuis is pushed that much further by Puschkin's expert performance. 12 INCHES OF DANGLING FURY is without question the funniest indie film of 2003.
MEMORABLE SCENES-"Plasma ecstacy!"
