DELTA DELTA DIE!
PLOT-A sorority of beautiful cannibal girls tries to keep the secret ingredient to their famous "meat pies" under wraps.
VIOLENCE-Lots of gory biting and chewing, and big hunks of meat are flayed from people's bodies.
SEX/NUDITY-Many many topless shots and a couple of simulated sex scenes.
WHY I WATCHED IT-B-movie goddesses Julie Strain and Brinke Stevens together for the first time ever, and it's a film about cannibalistic sorority girls to boot! Can life get any sweeter?
THE DOPE-As much as I love the aforementioned actors, rarely do you see them in much bigger than a supporting role these days. Sad but true. Generally you see them pop in occasionally for a cameo, like Julie did at the beginning of director Devin Hamilton's previous film BLEED. This time, the big guns get a real chance to show off the reason why they've stayed in the biz so long, out-lasting many of their would-be counterparts from the past. Both these women have the energy and dedication it takes to handle a great role, and with DELTA DELTA DIE they pull out all the stops. This movie rocks! It's a throwback to B horror flicks from eras past, such as BLOOD FEAST and SORORITY BABES IN THE SLIMEBALL BOWL O RAMA, but successfully combines humor, camp, and horror in a very classic style. Plenty of nudity, plenty of blood, and plenty of laughs accompany the great story and excellent cast. Tiffany Shepis, one of my current favorites, plays one of the sorority girls...and even manages to steal a few scenes from Big Julie! And speaking of...Julie's younger sister Lizzy Strain has a far more substantial role here than she did in BLEED, and diplays nice acting chops. I was pleased. Hamilton and crew have made one of the best indies I've seen this year, and delivered the goods that fans of Julie and Brinke have been dying for.
MEMORABLE SCENES-One sister is punished for "eating of the penis"! They say, "penises are full of germs and sperms.".
NOTES-The DVD is jam-packed with just the kind of extras I always hope for (but rarely get). There's audio commentary with director Hamilton, Julie and Brinke (!!!), a 4-minute blooper reel that's hilarious, several extended/deleted scenes (nothing fun there), an additional 9 minutes of Julie in her naked cannibal rage, 9 minutes of Julie in the shower, footage of her improv dialogue that was way too dirty for the movie, and a 20-minute "at home" segment (like the one on the BATTLE QUEEN 2020 disc) that features Julie, Lizzy, and their many dogs.
