JANE WHITE IS SICK & TWISTED
PLOT-A young woman who was raised by television and never went outside goes on a trek to meet her father, a man who hosts a JERRY SPRINGER-like talk show.
VIOLENCE-Although no blood is shown, a pile of bodies lie under a person who just hacked them all up with a chainsaw.
SEX/NUDITY-No actual nudity, but there's lots of sexual humor and sex-related situations.
WHY I WATCHED IT-With a cast full of cameos from support players of hit TV shows past and present, who wouldn't wanna watch it?.
THE DOPE-I absolutely loved this bizarre little movie! Kim Little (from "Diagnosis Murder") plays the title character Jane White, and goes all-out in her performance. It's rare to see someone, particularly a female, jump into such a weird role with so much gusto. The fact that she's the lead actor makes it that much better. Jane truly is sick and twisted, but not in the criminally insane kind of way. She's just a girl who has never experienced the actual outside world, and lives through television. The dialogue in this film is spectacular, because Jane and several others speak in TV-theme lingo. It's a treat for those of us who know that kind of stuff by heart, and who are familiar with the last 30 years of TV, especially because this film is littered with tons of actors from that time. Danica McKellar (Winnie Cooper from "The Wonder Years") plays a foul-mouthed trailer-trash lady! Maureen McCormick (Marsha Brady) plays the daughter of god! Dustin Diamond (Screech from "Saved By The Bell") plays a transvestite hotel manager! Wonderful. Brilliant. Completely nuts. This is a midnight movie of the best kind, complete with clay animation, Monty Python-esque bits, musical numbers, and tons of hilarious moments.
MEMORABLE SCENES-Debra Wilson (from MAD TV) plays a pimp named Chi Chi who handles transvestite hoes. She's awesome! I wanna see her in more film roles immediately. If for no other reason, rent this movie for the scene where a little girl shouts, "blowjob! blowjob! blowjob!" repeatedly.
DVD NOTES-Loads of great extras on this disc, my friends. You get commentary with the director and actors Kim Little & Chris Hardwick (who is funny, despite the fact that "Singled Out" was a shitty show), many outtakes, several deleted scenes, photos, and a 30-minute "making of" segment.
