THE KILLER EYE
PLOT-A scientist researching the 8th dimension accidentally creates a giant horny eyeball with hypnotic powers.
VIOLENCE-There are several bloody eye sockets, as people's eyes have been torn out or whatever. The eyeball kills a few people, but nothing that gory is shown.
SEX/NUDITY-There were a few sex scnes with the usual "late night cable" type nudity, but one shower scene seemed to linger on female crotch shots for quite a bit of time.
WHY I LIKED IT-The reason this movie was such a good idea is that it takes a plot right out of those cheesy 50's "giant monster" flicks and adds contemporary elements. You've got your big, fake-ass eyeball that kills people (which could easily have been a brain, a hand, a big spider, anything), but that's not where it ends here. There's drug use, homosexual overtones, and of course, breasts. I especially loved the way the killer eye was created. It started to grow when it was still inside someone's head, but blows up like a balloon and jumps out of the guy's face.
DOWNSIDE-None of the actors seemed like they really wanted to be doing this movie, which is the case with a lot of stuff like this.
MEMORABLE SCENES-By far, this movie should be viewed for the "eyeball groping" scenes. In particular, the lengthy sequence where it feels up a naked lady in the shower. Since the eye is hypnotic, nobody knows it's being molested by a giant eyeball. Man, how weird is that?
NOTES-There are two versions of this, an R and an UNRATED DIRECTOR's CUT. I got the uncut, which I imagine just has a few extra seconds of monster nookie. The cover for the edited version has a black-and-white picture of the cast on it, while the unrated is in full color and resembles an old 1950's movie poster.
