ODD NOGGINS
PLOT-A late-night horror movie has a strange effect on housewives in a small town.
VIOLENCE-People melt into a pile of yellow goo and someone's head is ripped off.
SEX/NUDITY-Nothing is explicitly shown, just implied. It should also be noted that there are a number of big curvy women in this film wearing little or no clothes! A true rarity in the film world indeed.
WHY I WATCHED IT-I saw pictures from the movie and was instantly curious.
THE DOPE-People always ask me why I enjoy low-budget movies so much. I generally give the same answer each time: I love the creativity that springs forth as a direct result of the many limitations independent filmmakers face. Ed Wood, one of the most famous b-filmmakers of all time, greatly respected the work of Orson Wells. And while PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE differs wildly from CITIZEN KANE, both films were made in the same spirit. They were limited productions that worked hard to realize their goal, their vision. It is in this same spirit that writer/director/editor Joe Sherlock made ODD NOGGINS. He wrote a big story with a big cast, but couldn’t afford to get enough people together in one place to make the film. But that didn’t stop him. He mailed scripts, costumes and props to actors in different parts of the country, and the actors filmed their parts of the movie! Then Joe got all the footage and cut it together to make ODD NOGGINS. Now if that’s not creativity then I don’t know what is. The movie is filled with goofy (and sometimes sexy) moments, wonderful performances, and old-school B-movie atmosphere. Loved it. Definitely a lot of fun!
MEMORABLE SCENES-While two men discuss the lack of big-breasted women in a movie they'd just watched, a busty nurse walks right toward the camera as we do a nose-dive right into her deep cleavage. Hilarious! Genius!
NOTES-At the end of the tape, there are several extra features that are almost as fun as the movie itself. There's an "interview" with the director detailing how the movie was made, many bloopers, and some trailers. A lot of work went into this thing, and the results are astoundingly entertaining.
