Destiny woke to find herself in a very large bed in a very large room. The room was stone, yet draped with tapestries of lions, coats of honor and knights(oh my!). The bed could easily fit four more people in it and a hundred could fit in the room. "Where am I? What happened?" Destiny said to herself hopping up to look out the tall window. Then, she realized her white dress was gone and she was wearing a long light blue nightgown. The Welcoax looked out the window to see a hilly land with several cottages peacefully still. _Looks like I'm not in Watcha anymore._ She though to herself, turning back around with her hands at her sides. She remembered the creature and the girl.
_What had happened to the girl? Why am I not dead? _ She felt the gash in her leg. It was no longer bloody, no longer open. Then, a knock at the door sounded. "Hello? Miss? May I enter?" A low women's voice called out from the door. "Um, yes." Destiny said, still unsure about her surroundings. A short, dark-haired and portly woman wearing a maid's uniform and carrying Destiny's dress came into the room. "And how are you this morning, young lady?" The women asked, setting down the dress on the bed.
"I'm fine, thank you. Would you mind telling me in whose lovely kingdom I am present in and how I got here?"
"Why you are in the Kingdom of Mansfield. You saved Her Royal Highness Emily's life and so she had you brought here, healed and let you rest here until you are ready to leave. Of course, after you meet with His Highness. I am your maid, Kalhan." The maid informed her and then turned to make the enormous bed. "It's pleasure to meet you, Kalhan. I am Destiny Welcoax." Destiny greeted the maid.
Destiny took her now-clean dress into her arms. "I will call in the other maids to help you dress." The maid said, turning to call the maids. "Oh, no, that's all right. I think I can do it myself." Destiny said, gently throwing the white dress down. The maid looked back at her with her blue eyes and nodded.
"If that is your wish, then it will be." Kalhan said, nodding to toward Destiny. "Please notify me or another maid if you desire anything." She continued then left the room.
The shape-shifter changed out of her gown and into her dress quickly, and walked out the large door to see the King. She walked to the dining room where she found the girl she had rescued, a young man and an older man eating at a long table filled with fruits, bread and glasses of cows' milk.
At first, they did not notice her but then the older man, probably the King, stood up to greet her. "Good morning to you, My Lady." He greeted, "I hope you slept well?"
"Oh yes," Destiny answered, "I did, Your Highness."
"Now, now. Lady Welcoax, I am very greatful for saving the life of my dear Emily. You have surely inherited the spirit and kindness of your mother." The King said, sparking memories of her mother in Destiny's mind.
"You knew my mother? Then you must have known the of The League of Good?" Destiny questioned.
The King knew he had struck a cord with Destiny's mother, yet tried not to let it show. "Yes, I did know your mother. Before, her . . . passing." He said, hesitant to say death or destruction. "We were part of the League of Good up until the time that it crumbled." Destiny nodded.
"Won't you join us for breakfast, Lady Welcoax?" The girl asked, breaking the silence and then waking up the young man next to her. "I cannot see why not." Destiny said, cracking a smile and sitting down on the other side of the King. A maid with short blonde hair came into the room to serve them more food.
Eric opened his eyes to see nothing and feel cold all around him. He wrapped him arms around him and squinted his eyes to attempt to see through the darkness that draped over him. Five single candles were lit around him. "Hello? Anyone there?" The boy called out, hoping that someone was there. Someone was.
"You are finally awake my sweet." A familiar voice said through the darkness. "Reb? Is that really you?" Eric said back to the direction of the voice. From the darkness, crept out a creature that looked to have the body and face of a wolf, but eyes and walk of a cat. Eric swallowed hard and felt his jaw quiver and his hands shake. "You-you're not Rebecca . . ." He stuttered.
"Oh, Eric, honey. Of course I'm Rebecca." The creature's seducing voice wrapped around Eric, not letting go of him. "You'd be surprised how many men have tried to fight me once I brought them here. I'm tried to give them all what I'm trying to give you: love. I brought them here to be with me. To make them feel wanted, to make them feel needed, to make love to them. They wanted to me, and yet tried to runaway when I reviled my true self." She walked around him in a circle, her soft tail stoking his neck.
"But, you're a monster!" Eric cried, trying to stand up. Rebecca leapt on him, pinning him on the ground. "I may be, but you will soon be the monster too." She said, changing into her human form and smiling evilly. "I hate you." Eric said when he knew he could not overpower you. The girl ran her slender fingers through Eric's hair and around his face as her smile grew wider. She leaned down to his ear and whispered, "But not for long." And all five candles were blown out as unheard screams echoed through the rest of the night.
