reviews from cleveland
iris (michelle solomon) listens to her mom's story.
.
here are some of the comments from the reviewers at the Cleveland International Film Festival (which did not accept Just Outside the Door -- but even if they did, the film wasn't finished in time to screen there anyway).
i won't use the individual reviewers' real names, even though i know them...
reviewer 1: "...some less than convincing acting.....the plot structure moved well toward the climax, but the actual event was a letdown."
reviewer 2: "some good acting (working with very limited script) holds interest.....if you can identify with the lover character [wendy], the suspense is effective, and the open ending has substance."
reviewer 3: "i liked the way the film unravels the story to eventually reveal wendy to iris, outside the door. it is a tightly configured script with a good music track and editing.....good use of camera angles and sound to create tension......the way this film is put together and the pacing make the viewer connected to the story. it has a suspense to it that holds you to the end."
talk about subjective opinions! i guess everyone really does see things differently...
