monthly survey for october:

Q: what is your favorite horror movie of all time?

answers:

1. the exorcist - 44 %
2.
the blair witch project - 22 %
--
the shining - 22 %
4.
halloween - 11 %
5.
nightmare on elm st. - 0 %
--
scream - 0 %

the october survey, honoring my favorite holiday of halloween, got more votes than the previous survey, but still only 9 total. is that enough for a legitimate result? well, i do think that the exorcist does deserve to be the winner, so maybe the results are valid. does the new blair witch project deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the shining? that's a bit more debatable...

monthly survey for august/september:

Q: what is your favorite sports movie of all time?

answers:

1. rocky 1 - 40 %
2.
hoop dreams - 20 %
--
raging bull - 20 %
--
slapshot - 20 %
5.
the bad news bears - 0 %
--
bull durham - 0 %

well, after 2 months of having the polls open on this survey, it seems to have been a complete disaster. only 5 people voted, and i therefore deem the results incomplete. just because 2 people out of 5 voted for the original rocky movie, i don't think that's enough to declare it the winner. for what it's worth, my vote was the 20% garnered in this contest by the classic hockey comedy slapshot, a movie that was both a boon and a curse to my favorite sport of hockey (a boon because it was so popular and raised hockey's popularity, but a curse because it promoted the idea that hockey is all fighting, which it totally is not).

anyway, hopefully future surveys will get a better turnout at the polls... we shall see...

monthly survey for july:

Q: what is your favorite comedy movie of all time?

answers:

1. monty python and the holy grail - 33 %
2.
the princess bride - 22 %
--
fletch - 22 %
4.
young frankenstein - 11 %
5.
parenthood - 6 %
--
the jerk - 6 %

the classic comedy monty python and the holy grail emerged as the winner in a very difficult battle. i personally voted for the chevy chase classic, fletch, which came in a tie for 2nd with the princess bride.

it was such a difficult choice just narrowing down the list to these 6, and i know how difficult a choice it was choosing between such great comedies... i would have like to have voted for all of them!

monthly survey for june:

Q: what is your favorite movie sequel of all time?

answers:

1. the empire strikes back - 27 %
--
the godfather part 2 - 27 %
3.
star trek 2: the wrath of khan - 18 %
--
indiana jones and the last crusade - 18 %
5.
return of the jedi - 5 %
--
terminator 2: judgment day - 5 %

we have a tie! can you believe it?? i personally voted for the godfather part 2, but i also loved the empire strikes back too, so i'm not disappointed. really, i think these are all great sequels. it's very hard to make a good sequel, or one at least on the same level as the original.
