Simply said, this is one of, if not the best peformance given by
Moore as 007. He was at the top of his career here and it is easy to tell
that in all honesty, Nobody Does it Better!
Bond and Stromberg (Thanks to Sakke for the sound).
British submarines are dissapearing, and Bond is sent out to investigate.
Unbeknownst to him, Russia has a similar problem and they have sent Anya
Amasova, agent XXX, to investigate for their side too. As luck would have it,
Bond and XXX end up working together and the trail leads them to Karl Stromberg and
his secluded underwater mansion, Atlantis. He is implementing a destructive plan for
world domination and Bond must stop him before he and his stolen nucleur submarines
engage war on the planet. But, before he can do it, he will have to get past Jaws, the
terrifying steel-toothed giant, played by Richard Kiel.
Stromberg, portrayed by Kurt Jurgens, is one of the most memorable villains in Bond history.
He is quiet, creul and has a horrifically destructive mind. His love for classical music
and sharks really adds to the tension that the movie expresses. This time around, Barbara Bach
puts on the shoes as the Bond girls, and in my opinion does a great job. She is much more assertive
than many previous Bond girls and this film calls for it. She is beautiful AND intellegent, unlike
Mary Goodnight in TMWTGG who only had the beauty, and she can act quite convincingly also
which never hurts! And as for Moore, well......what else has to be said? He is the greatest, and this
film proves it. Not enough can be said regarding his wit, suaveness, and talented acting abilities.
However, what can be said is that The Spy Who Loved Me is a great movie. It is
missing Nothing. Fast car chases, underwater adventures and an Amazing
pre-title sequence are just a few of the highlights that this blockbuster has to
offer. And who could forget the submursable Lotus Esprit? The Spy Who Loved Me
is a great pack of thrills in just two hours, so do yourself a favour if you
haven't seen it, and go rent it;And if you have......then watch it Again!
