If anyone has a claim to the title of Patron Saint of Blindfolds, it must be Queen
Gandhari.
A character in the old Indian (Sanskrit) epic poem Mahabharata, the young Princess
Gandhari was engaged to be married to King Dhritarashtra. When she learned that her
betrothed was blind, she vowed that she should never see what he could not. She
blindfolded herself, and wore the blindfold to her death.
In modern days this would probably be known as a 24/7 blindfold relationship. While this
is probably rather extreme for most of us, it is thought-provoking.
