On April 14 the White Star Liner R.M.S. Titanic struck an iceberg and two hours and forty minutes later she sank, bringing with her over 1,500 men, women, and children. During these early hours of April 14/15, a drama played out. There were many acts of courage and self-sacrifice; cowardliness and shame. From this tragedy emerged countless stories of heroes like shipbuilder Thomas Andrews, passenger Molly Brown, the engineers, the ship's band, and on and on. However, to present every single aspect of the Titanic would take years of research. This is the reason why The Lowe Flotilla has decided to combine their efforts to
conduct research on two topics that have not been as fully explored as
others - Officers and Wireless Operators.
