ENEMY OF THE STATE
7.5 Out Of 10 Stars
After the success of such films like Independence Day and
Men In Black, Will Smith returns to the big screen in Enemy of the State,
a film which is good, but won't come close to the success of his previous films.
This movie centers around a Washington D.C. attorney, who gets framed for
something, and starts running around town in his pajamas with a gun in his
hand, and while he's at it, scales a few building walls. Will Smith's performance
was probably the best of his career, Gene Hackman did a fantastic job, Jon
Voigt had his moments, and the rest were cast well into their parts. My congrats
to the casting director! Gabriel Byrne made a dissapointingly short appearance, which
should have been longer. Even though Gene Hackman is second on the credits list,
he makes his appearance toward the latter half of the movie, which I found
dissapointing as well. The best part of the film is the ending (I won't spoil
it for you) but it turns out to be one of the best endings I have ever seen
in a film of this type. Pay attention to the movie also, you can easily get lost
during all the talk and blowing up of things. Just make sure you don't spill your
soda on the person next to you, because if I find the kid who dumped it on
me while viewing this film, I'll kill him.
