6 Out Of 10 Stars
Here we go again, another remake of a great film that we expect to
stink because everytime Hollywood remakes a film, it usually doesn't come close
to the original. In this case, however, Psycho pulls through pretty well, but
doesn't offer anything new. Basically, it's the same as the original film.
Different actors, it's in color, more blood, and that's about it. They use
almost the same script, even go to the extent to use the same camera shots.
The acting done by Vince Vaughn (Norman Bates) and Anne Heche (Miss Crane) are
good, but don't match up to the characters in the earlier film. So, there is
really nothing new here, which is good because Psycho is a great film within
itself, but it's a bad thing if you already saw the old one, and know what's going
to happen in the end. Worth a few bucks to see it, better than many other
thrillers that came out previously this year. Relive the terror, and sit where
some annoying guy doesn't make sarcastic comments every five seconds.
