About all you'll get out of this film is, well, nothing really.
While the film had high expectations due to it's long production period, it falls
flat on it's face offering nothing more than a typical horror film. While Jamie Lee Curtis,
William Baldwin, and Donald Sutherland all did exceptionally well in they're roles,
it still doesn't help the film become a success. The film is about an alien intellegence
that sends a signal via satellite to a Russian ship in the ocean. The signal
takes over the ship and starts producing robot/human like entities. The part
that really bothered me, is where a person is turned into a half robot, half human.
Strangely enough, he looks almost identical to a "Borg" from the 1996 film
"Star Trek: First Contact". Talk about ripping off the costume. The effects
for the film were done well, making real robots and CGI (Computer Generated Images)
robots weaved good enough that the audience wouldn't really notice. The end
where two people (I won't say who) launch themselves out of rockets at the end
was not done very well in terms of special effects. While the story starts off
good, it dies off after a short while, and then everyone in the theater suddenly
realizes that they actually spent money to see this film. What a pity that is.
