Women in Film

They're tough; sometimes they kick ass, and sometimes they simply provide a safe haven when the going gets tough. Here are some strong portrayals of women in film:
The Professional (Besson 1994) - Twelve-year-old girl seeks revenge for the murder of her brother by corrupt DEA agents.

A League of Their Own (Marshall 1992) - Women in the 1940s prove they're just as good as boys, even in baseball.

Girl, Interrupted (Mangold 1999) - A young woman during the 1960s enters a mental hospital and embarks on a journey of self-awakening.

Frida (Taymor 2002) - Based on the life of the artist, it details the incredible strengths of Kahlo's character.

Where the Heart Is (Williams 2000) - Two women deal with loss and their search for love while maintaining stable environments for their children.

The Silence of the Lambs (Demme 1991) - An FBI agent-in-training teams up with an imprisoned sociopathic psychiatrist to catch a brutal serial killer.

Don't Say a Word (2001) - A troubled teenage girl holds the key to saving a psychiatrist's daughter's life.

Jackie Brown (Tarantino 1996) - A down-on-her-luck flight attendant schemes to outsmart a gun runner and his cronies out of half a million dollars.
