Ram Dass (Errol Sitahal)
Ram Dass is Charles Randolph's mysterious Indian manservant. Not much is known about
him except that he is a wise person and is always accompanied by his pet monkey Hanuman.
He was on board the same ship bound for New York from India that Sara and her father were
on but they did not meet, although Ram Dass did notice Captain Crewe waltzing with
his daughter on deck.
After Sara's father is declared killed in action and she becomes a servant girl, Ram Dass
"accidently" bumps into her again at the marketplace but has to leave to comfort Mr. Randolph
not long after he receives news that his son is missing in action.
That same evening, Ram Dass notices Sara leaving a flower on the doorknob of Mr. Randolph's
house as a sign of condolence for his loss before she walks off.
Ram Dass along with his pet monkey Hanuman play an instrumental role in helping Sara regain
hope and reuniting her with her father.
He manages to convince Charles Randolph to bring the injured Captain Crewe home to care for
him and find out about the fate of his son.
Ram Dass is also responsible for helping Captain Crewe regain his memory at the last minute
before the police take Sara away.
