Charles Randolph (Arthur Malet)
Charles Randolph lives in a house located right next to Miss Minchin's seminary for girls. Not
long after Sara arrives at the school, Mr. Randolph bids farewell to his son who is leaving
to serve in World War I.
Not long after Sara's father is declared killed in action, Charles Randolph also receives news
that his son is missing in action. The news is so shocking that he becomes confined to a
wheelchair and never recovers.
In an effort to find his missing son, Charles Randolph visits a local hospital after receiving
news that a wounded soldier from the front was brought there. Charles Randolph discovers
much to his disappointment that the wounded soldier is not his son but the injured Captain
Crewe who is suffering from temporary blindness and amnesia. Charles Randolph decides to
bring Captain Crewe to his home and take care of him after some advice from Ram Dass (Errol Sitahal) in the
hopes that Captain Crewe knows of the fate of his son.
After Captain Crewe recovers from his temporary blindness and amnesia and is reunited with
his daughter again, Charles Randolph discovers the true fate of his son and thanks Captain
Crewe for trying to save him before saying goodbye. He also becomes the new owner of Miss
Minchin's seminary for girls after the incident and renames it The Randolph school for girls.
