THE BASICS: Jonathan Stevens Jackson was born on Mat 11, 1982 in Orlando, Florida. The brown-haired, blue eyed babe and his older sibs, Richard Lee and Candance, were raised predominantly in the state of Washington by their parents, Jeanine, and ventriloquist, and Rick, a medical practitioner and country singer.
Jonathan, now 16, says that he and his older brother were enticed into acting after a family vacation to Los Angeles, California. "My family and I went to Universal Studios in California and my brother and I just caught the acting bug," Jonathan explains to BOP. "We went back home to Washington and looked in the phone book for a local talent agencies. We got an agent and starting doing on auditions.
In 1994, after taking acting lessons and doing commercials for products such as MacDonal's and Mattel, Jonathan's big break came when he was cast as Lucky Spencer on ABC's popular daytime soap opera General Hospital.
TAKING OFF! All it took was landing the contract role on GH to get Jonathan's career off the grouind. Since then he's starred in movies like 1994's Camp NoWhere. 1996's Prisoner of Zenda Inc. for Showtime and 1997's ABC movie-of-the-week The Ruby Silver, not to mention the fact that his acting work has been so highly regarded in the entertainment community that he's recieved numerous awards for excellence, including a daytime Emmy for his work on GH.
Big things are on the horizon for Jonathan as his new movie, The Deep End Of The Ocean, will be released in late February. He shares the screen with big-league actress Michelle Pfeiffer and critics are already calling his performance "Oscar-worthy." Not bad for a guy who insits he doesn't intend to give up his day job on GH. "There aren't a lot of movie roles for people my age," Jonathan's rationalized. "Scream is not where my strength is."
SPARE TIME, WHAT'S WHAT? Busy babe Jonathan is not only a gifted actor but a gifted musiciam as well - he sings and plays guitar in his rock band, Scarlet Road. With his Uncle Gart on guitar, his brother Richard on drums and his dad Rick on bass, the quartet has played gigs around the country and is planning to go into the studio to cut an album sometime this year. When he's not singing, playing the guitar or acting Jonathan says he enjoys the sport of fencing with his brother, which he edits at home with his own editing equipment.
Babeastic Jonathan has a winning combo of looks, smarts and talent to go far in the biz, but he would stop his career in its tracks if one thing happened. "If acting stopped being fun," Jonathan tells us, " I would stop," His fans needn't worry, though, there's no reason why he shouldn't continue to have a blast!!
