Donny & Marie
Special Guest
Jonathan Jackson

I'd like to give out a SPECIAL thanks to Karen (Lucky & Lizzie Daily Recaps)
for letting me use these photos!

Marie: Our next guest, everybody, is a two-time Emmy award winner for his portrayal of Lucky Spencer on the ABC soap opera General Hospital and now he is starring alongside Michelle Pfieffer in the movie The Deep End of the Ocean. Take a look at this.(Show Clip from DEOTO) Please welcome Jonathan Jackson.

Donny: They love you Jonathan.

Marie:The producers are saying "Shh!"…You know what, it's obvious everyone thinks you're darling and cute and handsome.

Marie:How does it feel being compared to or being called the next James Dean? What do you feel like when people say that?

JJ: Um…I'm a really big fan of James Dean's work, so in that sense it's just awesome. He kinda started a whole revolution of acting really, of film acting, back in the 50's along with Brando and Montgomery Cliff and everything, so um, I don't really want to take it beyond what it is. It's a very nice compliment, a nice comparison, but I don't want to let it go to my head.

Marie: I think you're cuter.

Donny: Your brother, Robert.

JJ: Richard.

Donny: Richard, on Saved by the Bell, you guys used to make home videos together…

JJ: Oh yeah.

Donny: What was that all about?

JJ: Well, when we first got interested in acting that's all we could do, make home movies. We'd think of plots, we'd edit it in the video camera. Oh, yeah, we'd do stunts.

Marie: How old were you when you did this?

JJ: 9 or 10. We still do it when we have free time. (laughs)

Donny: Do you still enjoy it, working on General Hospital? JJ: Oh yeah, I love it.

Marie: We have a clip.(Shows Clip from GH)

Marie: What do you feel when you watch that?

JJ:I've been on for 51/2 years, so it kinda feels like another person.

Donny: You know, it takes a lot of work to do stuff like that, day in and day out. What do you do to get away from the work? What do you do to have fun?

JJ: Play a lot of music actually. Write songs, play guitar, sing, yeah, and my brother plays the drums and sings also, so we have a band with my dad and my uncle and we kinda play around some gigs.

Donny: What kind of music do you play?

JJ: Rock, anywhere from some nice ballads to some pretty heavy rock.

Donny: What's the name of the band?

JJ: Scarlet Road.

Marie: So, you've actually played at places and do gigs, very cool.

JJ: We've played around Hollywood here and there.

Donny: We oughta get you guys on the show.

JJ: Alright! (smiles)

Marie: The new film, The Deep End of the Ocean, you did that with Michelle Pfieffer. What was it like working with her?

JJ: Man, that's all you have to say, "Working with Michelle Pfieffer." I've been a huge admirer of her work for so long. She was my sister's favorite actress. Someone my brother and I admired a lot. To find out she's such a nice person and such a professional. She was focused and so generous with her acting and the way she treated people was just an extra bonus.

Marie: Was that a fun film for you to do?

JJ: It was.

Donny: Well, it was some pretty serious content.

Marie: You play a child that was…

JJ: I play, actually, the older brother. The child is lost when he's about 3 years old and then comes back 10 or 12 years later.

Marie: Isn't that wild.

JJ: So, it's really about how the family copes with the changes, I mean first with losing and then having him come back, how that's changed everything.
