I thought this was rather an interesting article
and I thought you all might be interested in reading it as well.

GENERAL HOSPITAL's Lucky hatched a plan to move to New York so his lady love, Liz couls pursue a higher education at a prestigious art school. The young Spencer had it all mapped out, from the school that Liz would attend to the apartment in Greenwich Village that they would call home. Well, sifting through the classifieds in The Village Voice reveals that prices for apartments in this area vary greatly. Among those listed was a newly renovated studio in the East Village with a separate kitchen (kind of small for two people), located on a "great block," at $890 a month. A small one-bedroom on the second floor of a walk-up was priced at $970. Should Liz and Lucky come into some dough, a furnished one-bedroom with a sleeping loft and large windows revealing an "open city view" was listed at $3,000. But let's be honest - combining Liz's meager wages from Kelly's with Lucky's cash from Jason and Sonny's odd jobs, they probably still couldn't even afford the studio apartment. That's because the New York City housing situation is scarier than .... Helena Cassadine!
