"I decided to be an actress when I was 6', says Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth, GH) "But if I didn't make it, I'd be doing hair, makeup and fashion." Maybe most celebs leave that stuff to hairstylists, makeup people and personal shoppers, But Herbst will have none of that - not when she can have so much fun doing it herself.

THE FASHION FILE

It's a good think Herbst has a talent for sewing because the petite, brown-tressed actress is a size 0 - a size that's smaller than most fashion designers make their samples. "Everything I bought had to be altered, so I asked my parents for a sewing machine for my high school graduation present," she says. "One thing I know for sure is that anything I wear is going to be original." Like the lovely empire-style, georgette, three-layered number she wore to this year's Emmys.
"One layer was spring green, the other was light pink and the third was mauve. It took me about five days to complete, but my mom contributed a lot."
When Herbst isn't shopping for interesting fabrics and needs a new frock in a hurry, her first thought is to try stored like Banana Republic and Club Monaco because they carry her size. "I like comfortable, simple, elegant, timeless clothing that always make me look feminine," she says. Herbst has learned that she looks best when she's dressed in a outfit that emphasizes her waist. Since she's 5 foot-2 and 100 pounds, fashions that hide her waist give her a boxy appearance.
The actress admits to having one fashion vice, though. "Like so many women, I have a shoe think, and I have more of them then I know what to do with," Herbst laughs. "Usually, I'll buy a pair of shoes and have nothing to wear them, and shoes give me the inspiration to make an outfit. I used to have a complex about my height, but I'm over it and even has several pairs of flats. But, "she adds, "heels do make your legs look longer, and I'll wear a skirt or a dress rather than a pair of pants any day."

THE BEAUTY BIT

Sunblock is the secret to Herbst's great skin. :I wear it all the time, and I put it not onlu on my face but on my neck and hands, which always show a woman't true age. I wear it in my moisturizer, Johnson & Johnson's Purpose SPF 15. It's a little greasy, but I have dry skin, so it works for me."
Herbst is her own manicurist and looks forward to doing her own nails two or three times a week. "It gives me a chance to sit in front of the TV," she says. "I do the while thing: cuticle removalm filing, buffing and painting." For the finishing touch, the actress is loyal to Lancome naul polish. "It's a little expensive, but it goes on nice and dries really quickly," she says. When she knows she's not going to be oncamera, she'll pain her nails burgundy. "Since my character was raped, I've toned down the nail color to pastel pink."

FIT AND FABULOUS

Having a great metabolism allows Herbst to eat whatever she wants with out worry. "I'm a balanced eater who craves vegetables and fruits," she says. Vitamins are also a part of her daily routine, and she takes a multivitamin, Vitamin B, Vitamin E and calcium. "Vitamin E is very good for you skin abd hair," she advises. But exercising is not one of Herbst's prioritirs. "I don't excercise as much as I should, only about one a week, when I play basketball with my sister Jennifer, and my best friend Brigette."
