Rebecca Herbst has more than proved she's a powerful actress

General Hospital's most explosive , pivotal actress today is Rebecca Herbst. Her amazing ability to show all different types of emotions leaves viewers speechless. But her natural beauty and talent goes far beyond the ordinary. This past year, Rebecca packed so many powerful emotions into her character that she was convincing enough to make a desk cry. But this starlet's career has only just begun.
Rebecca's character, Liz, has come a long way since her first days in Port Charles. "Liz started on the show as this little, obnoxious brat who didn't care about anybody and who was out to get everybody. I then did this 180 turn since the rape and began to play a good girl character," Rebecca explains. "I enjoyed playing Liz before because it's fun to play a character who's not like yourself because you can act out things that you never would do in real life and explore those emotions, but I also like playing the new Liz. Ever since her trauma, Liz has matured more and my character has evolved as a result. She's not evil anymore and her growth since I've been on the show makes playing her today give me many challenges as an actor."
Last year, the impact on Liz's rape storyline met with much controversy, but her recovery process is making a louder statement. "She's talking about it, telling people, she pressed charges and is not sleeping all day and hiding her ordeal and going through it alone. I think the writers have done a great job in making Liz not a victim but a fighter and showing that, while this was a terrible experience nobody should go through, she will get through this in time and go on with her life."
Rebecca's strong lead female character is a role model for women of all ages to follow. Yet Rebecca didn't even realize that her work would create such a huge impact until she started to read her fan mail. "When you're taking your scripts and acting out scenes on given days, you're not aware of just how many people out there and watching you. Just from the fan mail I've gotten, I realize just how much this storyline has affected people and how many people can relate to what my character is experiencing. I feel good if people could see my character and get support or motivation from her and use her as a role model though.
Her powerful performance in ‘98 may pay off in the future. It's a great possibility Rebecca will be nominated for an Emmy Award this year. However, after mentioning the word ‘Emmy' to Rebecca, she related her feelings with a gasp. And what if she won it? "I'm terrified at the thought! I'm not good in front of a huge audience and I'm afraid I'll forget to thank someone, like my mother, or be speechless!" Whatever the outcome, Rebecca plans to enjoy her time in New York City, just like she did last year. ?My mother and I are in the process of planning out what I'll be wearing for the award show. My mom's a great seamstress and we're going to be picking out some fabrics soon. The hardest part is getting a pattern for the dress but once that's done, it's pretty much straightforward. For the Emmys, I'm thinking about wearing blue."
Being paired up with Jonathan Jackson, Rebecca is envied by many. But rest-assured, Rebecca and Jonathan's off-screen relationship stands at just being friends. "Jonathan is a good friend/ We hang out sometimes and eat dinner at each other's house on occasion and talk about a lot of things." Even though Rebeccca is five years Jonathan's senior, she admits they're professionals and no age factor ever gets in the way of their kissing scenes. "When we're taping and up there on stage , we're Lucky and Liz. I never think about our ages when our scenes call for us kissing."
In real life, Rebecca is focused and knows already what she wants in life and in her future Mr. Right. "What I look for is a person's character," she relates. "We have to have similar goals, interests and posses the same beliefs and have similar backgrounds. I'm religious and I would like someone who's also spiritual, too." But other important attribute Rebecca's significant other must have are, "They have to be honest, loyal and have a great sense of humor!" Tall order but nothing an intelligent, thoughtful and beautiful young lady can't accomplish!
While the road to stardom has already been paved for the young actress, Rebecca has a pretty good idea of what's to come.
"Professionally, I'd like to continue pursuing my acting career and exploring movies a bit more. I'd like to find the guy I want to marry and have children eventually. I want a big family with four kids."
