However, I would LOVE to congratulate my Colorado Avalanche on bringing the Stanley Cup back home to Colorado for a second time! It was a tough season, but they did stick with the theme of the season.. One Team, One Goal.. and they were able to dethrone the 2000 Stanley Cup Champs - The New Jersey Devils. :o) Yeah, like the cup could stay in the East very long!
The AVS were also able to give Ray Borque the Stanley Cup ring that he totally deserves, and on Saturday, November 24th, 2001... the Colorado Avalanche are going to retire Ray's jersey (#77).
This past season, the Colorado Avalanche created a theme for their season... One Team, One Goal. Mostly, their mission was to send Ray Borque off to retirement the way that a great player like him deserves to go.. with at least one Stanley Cup ring. The AVS knew that they had lost too many playoff rounds in the past due to the other team having home ice, so they made it their mission to gain home ice advantage throughout the playoffs, and I think that really helped their playoff run! Together, the AVS accomplished the goals that they had set for themselves, and won their second Stanley Cup Championship and helped Ray Borque get his name on the cup.. something he's wanted for SO long. :o)
Here are a bunch of pics of from this year's celebrations:
