In a time when arranged marraiges are perfectly humane,
and peasants are sold off without a thought, two souls
from different worlds find themselves in a deep, profound
relationship of love. In one word, Cinderella. It's a tale
we all know too well. But with the combined efforts of
Drew Barrymoore and Dougray Scoot, they turn this classic
fairy tale into a film you can never forget!
In this modern rendition of a Cinderella story, Barrymoore
does a fantastic job in portraying the pain and sadness
of Cinderella, as well as her passion for life, love,
and happiness. In all honesty, I think Drew looks a lot
better in long brown hair than short blonde hair.
Nevertheless, her acting is divine!
I must also complement Scott for his divine preformance.
Although he does a superb job in tackling his role, I must
say that his transformation was all too sudden and not
carried out in the time it deserved. Suddenly, he was
completely upset and outraged, yet in an instance, he
hopes to jump to her rescue. Perhaps a longer dialouge
with Leonardo Da Vinci would have helped. A few more words
of wisdom might have been benificial to the plot.
All in all, this rendition certianly takes on the essence
of GIRL POWER! Cinderella is almost a typicial tom boy
although called Danielle. She has great aim, wonderful
balance, a great heart, swims, saves servants, AND saves
the PRINCE! I think that this movie is overall a wonderful
film and a pleasure to watch. Very satisfying and a superb
choice to rent at any local video store! It almost seems
flawless unless you actually take the time to analyze it!
