In a tale about deception, scandal, and bribery, Rupert Everett does a superb job in portraying Lord Goring (Everett); an idle philanderer, but also the most eligable bachelor in town. His best friend, Sir Robert Chiltern (Northam), on the other hand, is the most highly respected man in town, and the "ideal husband," to his wife (Blanchett). However, as Goring's old flame Mrs. Chieveley (Moore) appears, old shames are brought to the surface, and a tale of lust, deception, and wager is brought about. For the first time in his life, Lord Goring must take things rather seriously, and put his life (social life that is... which may actually be more precious than a mortal life), as well as his one true love (Driver) on the line to save his best friend (Chiltern) from complete and total ruination.

It's a captivating, and incredibly well done film about about being selfless, and the meaning of true love. The acting was just utterly breathtaking! But honestly, how could anyone go wrong with such an all star cast? The film was just beautifully done! It also touches on the imperfectionism of humanity! While these characters were considered absolutely perfect by their common peers, the film showed us that noone's perfect, and that a human character has several flaws to it!

My only criticism about the film is the way the ending is just a little... too ideal. I admit, the ideal ending brings charm to the film. However, with the amount of inciting incidents that went on, it seems as if at least SOMETHING needs to end up screwed. Nonetheless, the film's good orginization, great plot, and superb acting makes the film a definate worthwile experience!
