Movie Projects in the Works!
A movie on United Nation Relief Efforts put together by Oliver Stone is about to become a whole lot better! The reason why? well Catherine has signed on to play the female lead as a British relief worker, opposite Kevin Costner's American doctor... with Catherine on board, Costner maybe able to enjoy a film success which he hasn't had since Dances with Wolves.
Catherine will also be the female lead in the romantic sci-fi thriller The Tenth Victim, a remake of the 1965 Italian film, "La Decima Vittima" that will be directed by Lee Tamahori. The story will be based around a future utopia where man's need for violence is focused on organized killing games. Catherine and another rival male contestant will play love interests as they rebel against the system.

People magazine has named Catherine in their annual Ten Best Dressed list, along with Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt. The judges wrote that Catherine "looks the way we think a movie star should look" and that "even if she's going to the supermarket, she realises she's onstage." On the 8-strong judging panel were fashion heavyweights like that of British designer Samantha Shaw, who was responsible for Sophie Rhys-Jones's wedding gown.

Catherine Zeta Jones was on E!'s coverage of the Cannes Film Festival. They first showed her during the premiere of Entrapment in a pink gown posing with Sean Connery. Then they showed her on a panel answering questions along with Sean Connery. The last clip has her exiting the building with Sean Connery. Initial showing and rebroadcasts include Sunday May 30 at 10 PM, Monday May 31 at 1 PM, Wednesday June 2 at 3 PM, and Thursday June 3 at 9 PM.

As the Cannes festival wrapped up with the awards ceremony, Catherine Zeta-Jones was spotted with Sean Connery during the week. Zeta-Jones was spotted wearing a pink dress during a premiere even as she strutted with co-star Sean Connery from Entrapment.

Into it's fourth weekend and facing the likes of Star War: Episode I, Zeta-Jones' Entrapment remained in the top 3 movies at the box office. Of course, the number 1 spot went to Phantom Menace while the Mummy slipped to second place position. Entrapment got jolted from the top 2 falling to 3rd place after its 4th week. The sleeper hit Entrapment has already surpassed the expected $60 million Fox executives forcast it to earn during its entire shelf-life at the theaters.

Catherine Zeta-Jones is expected to make an appearance at the 1999 MTV Movie Awards. The awards will be shown on June 10th. Zeta-Jones will be on stage as a presenter, and hopefully as a recipient of an award too. As reported earlier, Catherine Zeta Jones was nominated for 2 MTV Movie Awards. Zeta-Jones is nominated for both Best Breakthrough Performance and Best Fight with Antonio Banderas and votes may be casted until May 22.

Variety has reported that Catherine Zeta-Jones has signed a contract that will make her a victim, likely the 10th one to be exact. Catherine has committed to be the female lead and to be directed by Lee Tamahori in the romantic sci-fi thriller "The Tenth Victim", a remake of the 1965 Italian film, "La Decima Vittima." According to gossip columnist Janet Charlton, the 29 year old Catherine Zeta Jones has been spotted holding hands with 55 year old George Lucas. She caught the eye of filmmaker Steven Spielberg who cast her in last year's hit The Mask of Zorro. And apparently, George and Catherine only had eyes for each other at a party in Hollywood last week. Being cast a part in Episode 2 would smashing.

Breaks April Box Office Record

The Entrapment beat a box-office record for the month of April as it knocked off "The Matrix" which had the #1 spot for several weeks in a row. The movie debuted at around $20.7 million in ticket sales which beat the previous record holder "Life" a couple weeks ago. This was the 2nd highest opening debut for a Sean Connery movie following his 1996 movie "The Rock".

This will be Catherine Zeta Jones' second appearance on the covetted talk show as she made an appearance last year in promotion for The Mask of Zorro.
