notes: this is my first Star Trek Deep Space Nine story, so please be kind in your criticism. I am not a fan of Ezri Dax and Worf in a relationship, but this cried to be written, so I decided to take a shot at it. Also, I have no intentions of writing anymore E/W stories--I simply wanted to expand on the events in the episode "Penumbra".
credits: Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Worf, Ezri Dax, and the episode "Penumbra" are property of Ira Steven Behr and Paramount Pictures. I will make no money off this story.
rating: this story is rated R for some mentions of sexual type stuff. Please don't read if you're under the age of 16 or offended by that sorta thing.
thanks: to Cheile for being willing to read my sloppy scribble and not only type this up but distribute it to internet fans. To Seema, mistress of the Worf/Dax archive for suggesting a much better title! to Carrie G. from Jew-el list for finding that Klingon epithet. Also to Michael Dorn and Nicole deBoer for inspiring the idea.
dedication: To A and B--thanks for all your help. Love, C.
Ezri Dax once more cursed herself for being a fool.
Of course she was concerned when Kira had reported that Worf was missing. Of course she had protested when Benjamin had told her that they had to call off the search. She should have just stayed on the station.
But no, she had to let the symbiont get away with ruling her rational mind, disobey Benjamin, steal a runabout and take off looking for Worf. She had found him, all right. But Jem'hadar had found them too. And now they were stuck here on this Gods-forsaken moon for who knew how long.
You're an idiot, Ezri Alenya. Ten times a damned fool, she silently told herself. Shaking her head in disgust, she went back to fiddling with her com badge.
It was imperative that she find a way to get contact with the station. Her stomach grumbled and she briefly thought about eating. But when Worf came back with some kind of creature he'd hunted down and pronounced it dinner, Ezri balked. Which, of course, started yet another sniping match.
"Jadzia would have understood," Worf grumbled to himself several minutes later. Unfortunately, Ezri overheard him.
"Oh I thought we weren't supposed to talk about her."
Worf sighed. "I was merely making an observation." He paused, then changed the subject. "Have you been able to boost the com badge signal?"
"Not enough to get a message back to the station," Ezri answered. Then feeling a sudden burst of childishness, she sniped "I bet Jadzia would have been able to do it." When Worf glared at her, she echoed his words. "I was merely making an observation."
"Perhaps we should both refrain from making observations."
"You're right--let's just go about our business and exchange as few words as possible." Ezri turned away from Worf and continued to poke at her com badge.
"What is it about men?!" Ezri muttered under her breath. "They either don't talk at all--like you! Or they talk too much--like Boday."
"Boday?" Worf repeated. "The Gallamite?!"
Ezri shrugged. "We had dinner on the station before I left."
"I see. If he talks so much, why did you have dinner with him?"
"He's interesting. And he has a good sense of humor."
Worf seemed to accept that and the silence stretched between them again. Ezri went back to fiddling with her com badge.
A few minutes later, Worf spoke again. "Tell me, did Jadzia....?" He paused. "Did she and Boday....?"
Ezri looked up, let a few seconds pass then said, "I don't have to answer that."
He rose. "She did."
Ezri sighed. "Worf, she didn't even know you back then."
"I do not wish to hear your excuses."
Ezri leapt to her feet. "*My* excuses?! I'm not the one who slept with him!" she cried indignantly.
"You had dinner with him!"
"Who are you angry with--me or Jadzia?!"
"Both!"
"You know what? You're crazy!" she screamed.
"You could make anyone crazy!" Worf snapped, turning his back to her. But Ezri would have none of it.
"Don't turn your back! Talk to me, you coward!"
He spun around. "Do NOT call me a coward!" His voice had a dangerous undertone to it.
"Augh!" Ezri cried in total frustration. "I can't believe I'm stuck here with YOU!"
"Perhaps you would rather be back on the station with Captain Boday. You SlIy'baH!"
Ezri gasped in shock. The shock turned to fury lightning-fast and she lashed out. She didn't care if he killed her for slapping him, but at least she'd have the satisfaction of having done it.
But he grabbed her wrist before she could hit him. She tried breaking free, but it was impossible. They glared at each other for a long minute, then without warning he dragged her against him and kissed her hard. Ezri tried to struggle, but the instant his lips touched hers, a fire seared her nerve endings and made her knees weaken. The kiss lasted a minute longer, then they pulled apart. He stared at her, stunned and with the slightest hint of uncertainty. Ezri's look mirrored his own as her thoughts, combined with Jadzia's memories, raged within her, trying to make sense of it all.
You're a fool, Ezri Alenya.
This is my husband.
Ten times a fool....!
Par'machkai....
Ezri reacted. She grabbed Worf's face in her hands and pulled him down to kiss him once more. The kiss grew more passionate by the nanosecond. She could feel the fire within and grew light-headed. Worf, sensing this, lifted her slim form in his arms and moved over to where the bedding was laid out.
Par'machkai....
And with Jadzia's memories and the fire in her blood overwhelming her, Ezri Alenya Dax succumbed to the wildest passion she'd ever experienced in her life.

Several hours later, Ezri awoke. She was briefly disoriented, not understanding at first why she saw stars above her head and not the ceiling of her quarters.
And what is that holding me down? Then a flash of memory arose in her sleep-muddled mind. Worf. The search. The crash. Their argument. And what had happened afterward....
Worf set Ezri down on her feet, but her legs wouldn't hold her up and she went crashing down, pulling him with her. He kept her from fully falling as they sank to the ground, still kissing passionately. He nipped at her neck and she tightened her grip.
Somehow they managed to get undressed without tearing their clothes. When they were both fully naked, Worf pressed Ezri close once more and Ezri shivered at the feel of his skin against hers. She gasped as he began to explore, tracing her spots, then her breasts, then further down. Par'machkai....
Ezri didn't realize she'd spoke aloud until he looked up, his dark eyes meeting her blue ones. They kept the gaze for a long moment, then their lips met as they came together, their fierce passion mounting. Within mere seconds, they reached the edge. He bit her shoulder and Ezri cried out, unconsciously raking his back with her nails in return....
She looked down at Worf, who was still asleep and smiled faintly. Then another wave of exhaustion overwhelmed her and Ezri wearily settled back down and let her eyes slide closed.

Ezri's eyes slowly opened. After realizing that she was still in the forest and not in her quarters, she wondered what had awoken her. It wasn't Worf--she could hear his deep breathing from behind her. Though he was no longer holding her, his hand still rested on her shoulder. She idly realized that she was dressed again. She couldn't recall waking up and getting her clothes, so she figured that Worf must have done it--and all without awakening her. Just as he'd done every now and then for Jadzia. A faint thought crossed her mind about the consequences of breaking the Reassociation law, but she silenced it. She was too tired to worry about it now. Ezri closed her eyes once more.
Sleep had nearly claimed her again when she felt Worf's hand leave her shoulder. A nanosecond later, she heard a twig crack. Her eyes flew open and she saw the two helmeted figures at the edge of the clearing. She moved to rise and grab her phaser, but they both fired their own phaser rifles. One of the blasts struck Ezri in the chest. She gasped in pain an instant before darkness descended on her.
When Ezri awoke again, they were on a strange ship headed in an unknown direction.
She and Worf had been taken prisoner by the Breen.
