THE RAPTURE OF LOVE
By Jaz D. Jordan
Star Trek DS9 and all characters therein belong to Paramount. The words to "Caught Up In The Rapture" and "You Bring Me Joy" are from Anita Baker's album "Rapture" recorded by Elektra Records, 1986.
My husband dedicated "Caught Up In The Rapture" to me the night he proposed, over 10 years ago. It has always been and will always be "our" song.
This story is dedicated to my husband: You Bring Me Joy.

Caught Up In the Rapture
When we met, I always knew
I would feel the magic for you
On my mind constantly
In my arms is where you should be
I love you here by me, baby
You let my love fly free
I want you in my life for all time
We stand side by side
Till the storms of life pass us by
Light my life, warm my heart
Say tonight will be just the start
Chorus:
Caught up in the rapture of love
Nothing else can compare
When I feel the magic of you
The feeling's always new
Caught up in the rapture of you

"Our baby would have been so beautiful..." As his wife expelled her last breath, so did Comdr. Worf surrender his will to live.

7 MONTHS LATER
"Alexander, before you leave to board the Rotarran, I want you to have this." Worf handed his son the crest to the House of Mogh and a cylinder containing the farewell message recorded that morning. "I am glad we had these past 4 months together."
"Father, there was nothing short of death that would have kept me from your side." Alexander took the objects and placed them securely in his backpack.
"I am proud of you, Alexander. You have learned much about being a warrior and are an honorable young man." Worf placed his hand on his son's shoulder.
"The important things I learned from you, long before I became a warrior. It is with great pride and honor that I declare myself the Son of Worf."
"I know I haven't said this very often, but I want to say it now: I love you, son."
"And I love you, Father." The two proud Klingons embraced for the last time.
After Alexander headed for his new assignment on the Rotarran, Worf prepared himself for what would most likely be his final night on DS9. He was satisfied, General Martok and the Lady Sirella had agreed to take his son into their home as their own son.
Worf, in his pajamas, knelt before the statue of Kahless, his hair flowing unbound down his back. He had not cut it since Jadzia's death. Hearing the door chime he entered the main room. "Enter."
Ezri Dax stepped over the threshold, she was wearing a long white gown and robe. "Worf, I'm sorry to disturb you but I could not sleep. I am concerned about this mission, the Dax symbiont is concerned for your safety. I know... the part of me that is Jadzia knows, why you volunteered for this suicidal mission. You still have time to back out..."
"Then you should understand that I will not, I cannot back out. Not only is it my duty, but it is my desire. It is the only desire I have now." Worf's voice was full of emotion.
Ezri walked over to stand in front of Worf. Looking up into his dark eyes she said, "These past few months have not been easy for us. Jadzia's love for you completely overwhelmed me when we first met, I am sorry for any embarrassment I caused you." The young Trill woman recalled throwing herself into Worf's arms the moment she entered Ops.
"You need not apologize. It was ... moving to know how much my and Jadzia's love consumed the Dax symbiont."
"I am more in control now, and I want you to know that I'm here tonight as Ezri Dax not Jadzia Dax. I would like to... I mean... I ...want you to be my first lover."
Worf looked down into the lovely blue eyes of the young woman who held the memories of his beloved mate. Ezri was beautiful in her own right. She reached up and ran her fingers through his hair and caressed his face. Her touch sent shivers down his spine, closing his eyes he imagined for a moment that she was Jadzia.
Opening his eyes he said, "No, I cannot. You are very beautiful Ezri, but you are not Jadzia, you are not my wife. Your offer is flattering, but you should wait for the man you want to spend your life with. Wait for the man whom *your* heart will beat for. I hope you understand."
"Yes I do." Ezri let her hand drop to her side. "But may I stay for a while, to talk?"
Seeing the sincerity of her offer, Worf agreed.
They spent the entire night sitting on the sofa talking. Worf held Ezri Dax in his embrace as he poured out his soul, releasing all the pain he had held in for the past seven months. Once he opened up he was unable to stop the flow of words. Worf recounted every moment they had spent together, from the day he and Jadzia had met in Quark's bar. He revealed his inner thoughts about every event of their lives together, even some feelings he had never told his wife. Worf thought it appropriate to bare his soul, to Dax. Because now as long as the symbiont lived, his memories as well as Jadzia's would live eternally.

3 WEEKS LATER
Capt. Benjamin Sisko held his head in his hands. The war was finally over. But victory had come at a high price. Personally he had crossed ethical boundaries he never imagined he would have. And so many lives had been lost. Two of those lives meant more to him than anyone could ever know: Jadzia Dax and Worf. He allowed the tears to slide down his cheeks as he remembered each and the love they shared.
Worf's valiant efforts had turned the tide in the favor of the Federation and its allies. He had located and destroyed the Founder's home in Cardassian territory. The changelings had formed a Great Link here in the Alpha Quadrant.
One consoling thought entered the Emissary's mind: They are together again, in peace.

25YEARS LATER: THE ENTERPRISE-J
Kirayoshi O'Brien held his son in his arms. His second son by his magnificent and beautiful wife, K'Ahava. This was their miracle child, for two years ago his beloved mate had been injured and the doctor had said she might never have any more children. He smiled down at her and kissed her forehead, her Klingon heritage. "We shall name him Worf."
"Yes, Worf is a good name. An honorable name." K'Ahava agreed.
"Well, little Worf, may you be as great a warrior as your namesake, my Uncle Worf," Yoshi said as he looked into the dark brown eyes of his son.

1 YEAR LATER: BAJOR
Jake held Ezri's hand as she gave one final push. The doctor held up the crying infant. "Jake, Ezri you have a beautiful baby girl."
"A girl! After all these years, a girl!" Jake exclaimed. When Ezri announced her pregnancy nine months ago, they were both shocked. Their youngest son was 16 years old. He loved his three sons but he had always wanted a little girl. This was his gift from the prophets, he just knew it. He and Ezri were both getting on in years. He kissed his wife and then watched as she nursed their baby girl. "What do you want to name her?"
Ezri ran her fingers over the faint Trill spots on her baby's caramel colored skin. "Let's name her Jadzia."
Jake stroked the curly dark hair on his daughter's head. "Welcome to the world, Jadzia. We love you."

18 YEARS LATER: EARTH
It was her first day at Starfleet Academy and even though she had aced all her entrance exams, she was lost and quite late for class. She could have sworn she set the alarm clock the night before. Spotting a lone figure sitting on the park bench she approached him. His long hair was pulled back into a ponytail, just like hers. He was diligently working on some type of calculations in his PADD. "Excuse me, but could you tell me how to get to Picard Hall? I'm already late, and I couldn't find my campus map this morning."
He grunted under his breath, he was trying to calculate the velocity of a temporal distortion, and did not want to be disturbed, and certainly not by a freshman. He tried to ignore her, but then she came and stood directly in front of him. Looking up his eyes beheld the most enchanting female he had ever met. His heart skipped a beat. Her twinkling blue eyes mesmerized him, and then she smiled at him. A smile that lit up her face and his soul. He stood up and returned her smile. "Yes, in fact I can show you the way. I was going that direction myself."
She looked into his dark velvety brown eyes and her heart stood still. She smiled at him. Her breath caught in her throat as this muscular young man rose to his feet, he was part Klingon, part Human. Then he returned her smile, she liked his smile. Extending her hand, she introduced herself, "My name is Jadzia."
Taking her soft, cool hand in his larger, warm one. "I'm Worf. And I'm delighted to meet you."
He continued holding her hand tenderly in his own. Each felt as if they had known the other for eternity.

7YEARS LATER: DS9
"My heart beats only for you," they declared as they pledged themselves in marriage. Lt. Worf O'Brien kissed his beautiful bride, Lt. Jadzia Sisko. The wedding had been a romantic combination of Human, Klingon, Trill and even Bajoran customs. Tears flowed freely that day, tears of joy and happiness.
Benjamin Sisko escorted his long time friend Kira Nerys. They leaned on each other for both physical and spiritual support.
"Well, Emissary, it seems the prophets work in mysterious ways."
"Yes, Nerys, I have to agree with you there. These old bones never thought they would live to witness the second marriage of Worf and Jadzia. But I am thankful for the honor of being here. Love conquers all things, time, space, even death."
Nerys looked at the happy young couple, "Love is eternal."

You Bring Me Joy
You bring me joy, When I'm down
So much joy
When I lose my way your love comes smiling on me
I saw your face, And then I knew
We would be friends
I was so afraid, but your arms, they'd say 'come to me'
So I'd say to you
"Can we talk for a while?"
You'd say "alright"
When you love me, I smile
I feel your hands and you feel mine
You bring me joy
You bring me joy, don't go too far away
If I can't see your face, I will remember that smile
But can this be right, Or should we be friends
I get lonely sometimes and I'm mixed up again
Cause you're the finest thing I've seen in all my life, you bring me joy
My joy, my joy
I believe this is gonna be what we want it to be
I just love you, I just love you, can't you see
That you're the best I've seen in all my life
You bring me joy
