Our Story

William and Lynne
first started talking on the internet in June 1998.
We became close friends
and even talked of meeting one time.
William lived in Canada, and Lynne lived in Australia.

Both of us were married when we started talking.
After our marriages broke down we
became 'romantically' attracted to each other.
So in March 1999, Lynne boarded a plane,
and 24 hours later, we met for the first time.
It was obvious from the start that the attraction felt online
was also there in real life.

Two weeks after Lynne's arrival in Canada
we got an apartment together.

That summer, William's children came to live with us,
so we got a bigger apartment and settled down as a family.

FINALLY in January 2000 William got the courage to ask
THE QUESTION.
To which Lynne replied "I need time to think about it".
Of course, a moment later she said yes.

The Plans

.
After changing the date 4 times,
a date of July 1st 2000 was finally settled upon.
Lynne made both her dress and Emily's
and the vest's worn by William and Joshua.
A friend of the family,
Reverend Charles Mayo was asked to officiate at the ceremony.
Floral arrangements, buttonholes, corsages and hair pieces were made by Lynne
and included dried Western Australian Wild Flowers
The cake was made by Shirley Yzerman and Lynne,
and was decorated by Judy Brough.
The cake topper was bought at Speciality Cakes in Welland, Ontario.
The wedding rings were bought from a jewelery store in Dunnville.
William's Aunt and Uncle's place in Delhi
was chosen as the site for the ceremony and the reception.
The wedding invitations were sent out,
and replies received.

The Heartbreak

On the Monday before the Wedding
William and Lynne went to the town hall
to get their Marriage License.
After filling out all the forms
They were informed that they could not
legally marry that Saturday.
Because Lynne had obtained a divorce overseas
they had to apply to the government
to have the divorce recognised.
This process could take several weeks.
After consulting with family and the minister
It was decided that the ceremony on the Saturday
Would go ahead, but would have no legal part to it.
And that a second ceremony would be held
when the approval came through.
