About Hindi Films

Never seen a Hindi Film?  Well this page will tell you all about them!  Hindi Films are normally 3 hours long and contain songs, drama, romance and action. Viewed by millions of people worldwide, they provide a complete source of entertainment, but beware if you are looking for complete realism, you normally won't find it here.

Hindi movies are mostly idealistic - who wants to see realism, we see too much of it anyway!
India produces over 800 films a year, enough to provide a wide choice and variety for everyone.

Profile

Every time I update my page, I will provide an insight into one Hindi Film Actor/Actress, with a look at their acting ability and plus/minus points (strictly my opinion!)

This time it's the turn of ............Arbaaz Khan.

Arbaaz Khan starred in his first film as a villain, brave way to enter the film industry!  Younger brother of Salman Khan, this Khan has so far projected a tough guy image with a few glimpses of a soft centre.

Plus Points - good acting ability, screen presence, can act, fight and dance.

Minus Points - has only displayed one type of character, should experiment with more shades.

Will hopefully - choose a few big and good banners and directors.  Needs more exposure.

Film Review - Hum Saath Saath Hain

This film is made up of around 30 characters, around 10 of them main (oh yeah, and lots of songs).  Main characters include Salman Khan (yup, brother of him above!, Mohnish Behl, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Karishma Kapoor etc. etc.

The first half of the film revolves around songs, yet more songs and yes you guessed it......more songs.  The songs are well picturised and a couple of the tunes are hummable, but otherwise you wish there were more dialogues in this half.  The second half is more serious and gives the actors/actresses a chance to show their acting ability.

First the men.

Saif Ali Khan shows traces of his former glory days and is the comic relief in the film, at times I wished he had a bigger role.  Mohnish Behl does a very good job, however his character doesn't have much scope, he's supposed to be so nice, its the kill with kindness formula being implemented here.  Salman Khan is the surprise item, he plays a quieter character who doesn't speak very often, however for me personally, he stole the show.  By playing a character his exact opposite (I mean boisterous only!), he captured my interest and stole a few hearts in the process as well!  I won't spoil the fun by revealing the storyline (and the Barjatya's will not forgive me either!) but overall it is a watchable film.  What this film doesen't have compared to Sooraj's previous films is the repeat value.

Now the women.

Tabu doesn't have much of a role in this film, but what she has, she does well.  She also looks very good in this film, she should stick with the designer of her outfits, they looked good.  Sonali again is a surprise, she doesn't reveal and she doesn't speak very much, but she is very likeable.  Nothing like a change to make you sit up and take notice.  Last but not least, Karishma.  She plays the equivalent opposite of Saif Ali Khan, bubbly which suits her well.

Don't get me wrong, the moral message is nice and the film gives a feel good factor, but that ol' spark wasn't there.  Perhaps Sooraj should now branch out into a different kind of film, there's plenty of choice - suspense, action, thriller, comedy etc.
