Every year on January 1st, my hometown of Sheboygan Polar Bear Club celebrates the New Year by taking a plunge into the frigid Lake Michigan. I've been a member of this club for the past 4 years, and it's a breathtaking experience. Usually, we swim for around 5 minutes, it is also customary to dress up in outrageous outfits, as you can see below.

Although every New Years Eve many a drunken person claims that they will go Polar Bearing in the morning, only few actually make it...

January 1st, 1996:

After another crazy party at Kevin Zientek's, me and fellow Dream Team member Jeremy See made our inaugrial plunge into Lake Michigan.

January 1st, 1997:

After drinking over at my grade school friend Joe Trimberger's house, I made the trip into the water alone. Fortunately, my parents were there to watch, and laugh.

January 1st, 1998:

Now being 21, I expected to have a few spirits beforehand. But, waking up late after partying over at Dream Team member Bryan See's house caused me to rush. Regardless I made the swim, as witnessed by Dream Tem member Aaron Wiegand.

January 1st, 1999:

A unexpected visit by Dream Team member Chad Angerer gave me hopes of another group swim. Well, he bailed out, but my brother, the caveman, took his first swim. Aaron came along to watch again. This swim was the coldest, I've ever took the plunge in.

January 1st, 2000:

Although I wasn't in Sheboygan, WI; I decided to make the plunge into the frozen waters in Orlando, FL as Dream Teamer Todd watched on. Surprisingly enough the water was cold enough for the shrinkage factor!
