Happy 3 year Anniversary to Dominic and myself (as of tomorrow, Feb. 23rd)!   Did you know the 3rd year anniversary gift theme is "leather?"  Hmm I can think of only a few leather items.  I ended up getting Dominic a leather satchel. Now he can save his backpack (from his college days) for our weekend outings down to the nation's capital.  The brand of the satchel is "ALIAS KIM" and "ALIAS KIM" is stamped  in the leather!  What a perfect way to remind Dominic of me!

Dominc gifted me a very interesting leather item.   With both hands behind his back, he brought out one hand and said, "Happy Anniversary Kim!"  And I took this small black leather item with a white bow from him and wondered, "What in the world?
Is this a business card holder? What gadget goes in this thing? What in the world is this for?"

Then Dominic, with a HUGE smiley grin on his face, says happily, "Happy Anniversary !!" and his other hand comes out
from behind his back.  Now MY face has a HUGE smiley grin!! It's a new cellular phone, a Blackberry Curve!  I have
been eye'n the Blackberry for some time now, but thinking how extravagant they are, wouldn't have bought one for
myself quite yet.
Later in the day, our friend Jessica came to our house and watched Alex while Dominic and I went out. Jessica brought Diego, her 3 year old son, with her. The boys had a good time practicing sharing and being nice.

Dominic and I took the metro 6 stops down to Bethesda. There is a spot called "Bethesda Row," an up and coming area. There are ton's of fancy and expensive places to eat and shop, along with a comedy club, a movie theatre, and more.  When I go to day-long training for work, this is the area where I go --But I ALWAYS pack my lunch because I think it is too expensive to eat out in this area regulary (but so many do.)

So Dominic and I hit an English Pub called the "Union Jack" and then we were to catch the 4:20 showing of Gran Torino, with Clint Eastwood. But, the movie was sold out by the time we got there. Bummer.  We did not end up seeing another movie, instead we walked a couple blocks over to the Barnes & Noble and got yummy caffinated drinks and browsed books. We arrived back home an hour earlier than planned.
Last Sunday, we took Alex to an elementry school playground. Here are some pictures!
This kid has building blocks. So why does he keep taking groceries out of the kitchen to play with?!?
I am registered to run the National Half-Marathone (13.1 miles, or 25 kilometers ) on Saturday March 21st.  For the past couple months, the runners in my running group (there are 4-6 of us) have been preparing for various marathons. There will be four of us running this half-marathon - so we've decided to make a "team" shirt!   We'll call ourselves the "Atomizers!" This race is through monuments and streets of Washington, DC.
I am also registered to run the 10 mile Cherry Blossom Run on Sunday April 5th. This race is soooo popular that on-line registration was filled/closed two hours after it opened!   I was supposed to be in Chattanooga for a two week training course during this time so I didn't register, but things changed (long story) and I won't be in Chattanooga during this time. So then I called around to Credit Unions sponsoring the race and asked if they had any sponsored spots remaining.  I got incredibly lucky and found one spot!  Not only do I get to run this race, I got the credit union to pay my registration fees!  Horray!   The Cherry Blossom run route is through monuments & streets of DC and the trees are supposed to be in full bloom -- hence the "Cherry Blossom" run.  It's supposed to be very beautiful.

It's 7:42am and I best be going. I am meeting the running group at 10am for a healthy 12 miles through Seneca Creek State Park. This is gonna be fun!
Saturday, March 7th.   I intended to get these pictures posted LAST weekend, but it just didn't happen. Sorry.  These five pictures are from my 11 mile run down to DC last Sunday. It was a group run.  We started out in Bethesda, MD and hit the "Cresent Trail" that led us down to D.C.
Myself, Jessie, Dan, and Shana
Dan and Shana take the lead.  As you can see, we got snow last weekend. This weekend, we're to get high's in the 70's.  Such a quick change.
So Long Maryland. Hello D.C.!
They tell me this is the WaterGate Hotel. Interesting to see.
I think at this point we had about 2.5 miles left in the route. You can see the Washington Monument and the backside of the Lincoln Memorial.
OH! It is sooo "Thirteen Colonies" down here!
Dominic went into work today, even though it is Saturday, so that he can take next Friday off.  He is planning to go to some gaming conference in Pennsylvania next Friday staying overnight til Saturday.  So, since Dominic is at work today, Alex and I have the whole day together.   In which case... I better get off this computer and go start playing with him!!

March 7th --- Part II                 Alex and I went to Target this morning and bought a small tub of sidewalk chalk for a buck.  It's fun for a Son and a Mom!
I took these photos with my Blackberry phone.  I'm definately impressed by the quality!!
Friday the 13th!!!!  of March  -- Dominic has left for a gaming convention in Pennsylvania, I am working from home, and Alex is at Day Care.
