the first time I heard stina nordenstam's voice was a few years ago. I was walking down the street on my way to a meeting and stopped by my friendly neighbourhood music store. when i opened the door to the store i was dripping wet and cursing. I obviously decided to take my little walk during the worst storm of the year. then something amazing happened. there was an angelic voice that just took over the whole place. it was like nothing I ever heard before. simply beutiful enough to break your heart. I sat there for half an hour enchanted, and then bought the album without even asking who it was.

the album was "and she closed her eyes"

then I started searching everywhere for some information. since this predated my conection to the internet, i had absolutely no luck. nobody knew anything about this amazing woman. finally I stumbled upon "memories of a color" at a used cd store. then someone told me that those were her only records.

when trying to define what I find so amazing about these albums words usually fail me. both of them have the ability to take you someplace else. just close your eyes and your there. it's allways winter in stina land, and the music is like a cold wind breathing down your neck. the music seems fragile enough to collapse any minute, and stina's voice is sometimes just a whisper. they're just so beutiful.

as I said words fail me.

but that doesn't mean I'm gonna stop trying, right?
