Things were good for that one practice before we realized that two saxophones don't make enough noise. Solution? Trumpets. We soon added trumpet players, and the band was complete.
We entered the High School Band Challenge at Bogart's. The first night, we played a couple originals and a couple of covers. Three of the four became integral parts of our show. The other was quickly removed from our set, because, quite frankly, it sucked.
Somehow, we won that night. So we got to come back. The second night at Bogart's was, arguably, our worst show ever. But we won.
The third night, we made what could have been a fatal mistake. We replaced the song "Take it Off Him and Put it on Me" by Buddy Miles with a couple songs that realy sucked and shall not be named. But we survived to play again.
Unfortunately, our lead guitarist didn't. He was removed from the band on just about the worst of terms the day before the semifinals of the band challenge. I filled in for him where needed (only 1 song).
In the end, we won Bogart's. Maybe we deserved it, maybe we didn't.
Shortly after winning, our other guitarist was also asked to leave. In her place, Andrew was brought aboard. And that's how we became what we are.
