The Exorcist is a movie that has retained an extraordinary power for 25 years. It opened in America on Boxing Day 1973 (February '74 in UK) and changed the Horror genre 360-degrees. Since the deletion of The Exorcist from UK video in 1986, due to the introduction of the Video Recordings Act 1984, the film has been somewhat unheard of in the British Isles. 1998 was the year of The Exorcist, celebrating the 25th anniversary of William Peter Blatty's spine chilling tale of demonic possession being imortalised on film. The twenty-fifth year has introduced a new door to the legacy The Exorcist has left behind, with Mark Kermode's persistance to have the film re-released with extra scenes looking impossible by March '98, he was given permission to use outakes, deleted footage and screen tests in a BBC documentary to be aired in June. It is the inexplicable power that The Exorcist contains which is still the considered factor by the BBFC. Can the film still have a lasting affect on unsuspecting viewers. It can...if you're weak minded. ---------------------------------------------------

I watched the movie last week. It is the scariest thing that I have
ever
seen. I am having trouble sleeping.
