He was born on 10 March 1962. The midwife noticed a "lump" on his back. It looked something like this. The midwife recognised it as spina bifida. The infant was transported to the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. At 8 hours old the fluid filled sac on his back was "repaired" He walked almost perfectly until age 35. Nerve deficiencies in his lower body occurred gradually over several years. He lost the feeling in his legs over a period of 30 minutes aged 34. Most of the feeling returned over a two week period.
