  • He was born on 10 March 1962.
  • The midwife noticed a "lump" on his back.
  • It looked something like this.
  • The midwife recognised it as spina bifida.
  • The infant was transported to the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London.
  • At 8 hours old the fluid filled sac on his back was "repaired"
  • He walked almost perfectly until age 35.
  • Nerve deficiencies in his lower body occurred gradually over several years.
  • He lost the feeling in his legs over a period of 30 minutes aged 34.
  • Most of the feeling returned over a two week period.
