My name is Mary Elizabeth . I am 28 years old, I have a
wonderful husband, Nathan, and the world's cutest 14 month old son, Sam.
I have been shaping upward and outward since I left high school (yikes,
ten years ago?) But as a commedianne once so aptly commented, "putting a
wedding ring on my finger was like pulling the cord on an inflateable
raft!"
I've been married for six years now and haven't found the plug
to
deflate: but NLC is my anchor! Ok, ok, so that analogy just isn't
working. But Net Loss Club has been the best thing to happen to me in
years.
I am 184 pounds as we speak. When I began at NLC I was 190. My
goal is 140. I walk on my treadmill and hop around with my Kathy Smith
workout tapes. I also have been focussing on shifting my diet away from
my beloved chocolates and cheese to veggies and grains. I have founf to
my surprise that the feeling of being hungry, or just not FULL all the
time, is pleasant indeed.
Now it's time to explain my Nom de plume. A while back I got an
idea for visualizing my weight loss. I bought 50 marbles and put them
in
a jar. Each marble represents a pound. Moving the marble from one jar
to another gives me visual, audio, and tactile satisfaction for
success!! It also gives me the unique opportunity to say : "I'm losing
my marbles, and I love it!" People on NLC responded well to my idea,
and began to associate me with it. I like the way "MaryMarbles" sounds,
and it makes me proud to think of my progress: thus, the birth of
MaryMarbles.
Oh, a few last notes: I am an at home Mom who works part time
evenings in a local public library. I am three credits away from my
master's degree in Library science. I suffered from depression for many
years, and consider myself a success story for overcoming it: I am more
than willing to discuss my "escape" from that dark place with anyone who
has depression and wants to talk, or who thinks they may. Be brave and
get help is the best advice.
I have rambled long enough! Welcome if you are new, and good luck to
all
of you lovely people!
Love to you,
MaryMarbles
